"It's a scary scene in Southern California as wildfires continue to rage in the Los Angeles area, and now the situation has led to the postponement of a game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames.
…I'm aware of the irony, and we'll discuss that in a second.

Now, because, I'm a dope, I can't get over the irony of the fact that the Flames just had a game postponed due to fire.
I mean, there are 30 other teams the Kings could have been scheduled to play on Wednesday and no one would bat an eye.
But it gets even weirder because this is the second game this season that was postponed by a natural disaster that is the namesake for one of the teams that was supposed to play in that game. Back in October, the Tampa Lightning had their home opener postponed due to Hurricane Milton. The opponent?: the Carolina Hurricanes.
That game was just made up on Tuesday, and we should expect the Kings/Flames game to be made up at some point this season."

Colorado in Buffalo in February when a Great Lakes squall drops 50cm of snow in one day?

Hopefully this happens when the Penguins visit Calgary next. That would be the cutest thing ever.

Don’t know how many posters have had a chance to see the LA fires on the news.

Disastrous!

Edmonton is already a much bigger natural disaster than any other city with a p̶r̶o̶f̶e̶s̶s̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶ ̶sports team in NA.

The LA portion of this fire map is really something to behold. I hope they can get it under control. Thoughts and prayers to everyone down there.

I looked at that map and then I was zooming in near the Eaton fire and what do I see? "Walsh House" and "Dilan House". Switch to google maps and use street view and low and behold, the Walsh house and Dylan McKay's house, less than a block from each other from Beverly Hills 90210. They're in Altadena (not Beverly Hills as the show would have you believe) and they are close to the fire.

Next time they're in Vancouver that TCX is going to rupture. It will be their fault.

One option for rescheduling could be to do it mid-February during the 4 Nations Cup break. Both teams only have one player going, and they're both on Team Sweden (Kempe and Andersson).

Both teams play at home on February 8 then are off for a couple of weeks. They could schedule the game for February 10 (the arena is free), which would still give Kempe and Andersson time to get to Montreal for Sweden's first game on the 12th.

Neither the Palisades nor Altadena pose any particular threat to DTLA but the weather is abysmal. Good choice to play it another day.

I wonder what the ignition sources were. Seems weird to have that many individual fires ignite at the same time. They don’t seem close enough to ignite each other. I get it was really dry. But something has to ignite them.

Unfortunately gale force winds that tend to happen at this time of year in the region, the winds are known as the ‘Santa Ana winds’ and they are a terrible addition to a region that has also experienced a historically low amount of precipitation which speaks to the dry conditions you mentioned. If you remember the fires in Hawaii it was the same combination of dry/drought like conditions mixing with near hurricane 1 winds that helped easily spread the fire. This fire started this morning as 3 major separate fires and it’s now 6 with 5 of them zero percent contained. Unfathomable to watch unfold.

Some car going over a speed bump too fast or too low could do it. They’re red flag warnings. Any number of things can create a spark.
