Geo aside, cars tend to have the majority of their crumple zones on the front end. Which is why in a fender bender, visually the front of the car tends to always look much worse than the back of the other one. Things bend and shatter to absorb the energy, so it doesn't transfer down the line.

If it's a case of a Geo vs. big ole' American boat, I'd definitely rather be in the boat...but if it's the boat against an immovable object like a concrete wall or giant oak, you may be better off in the smaller car with crumple zones that shatters and bends around the safety cell. The last time I took Physics was in the late 90s, but as I recall, crash energy doesn't just disappear because you're in a big heavy car, it just gets transferred into something else. If it doesn't get absorbed by your car, or whatever you hit, it tends to get absorbed into you.

I was watching some local news reporting from the fires in Los Angeles and sleazy reporters GMG. I get that they have a job to do, but when someone has just lost everything including their PETS in a fire and is sobbing on the road outside their burnt-down home, the last thing they likely want is for you and your ####ty camera crew to run up to shove a mic and camera in their face to ask "What's going through your mind right now?!". Freaking ghouls.
