Bump: Sharangovich is only 2 points back of Toff!
EDIT: of course I bumped the wrong Toffoli thread.
Toffoli($4.25M): 15G, 27P, 1GWG, in 36GP, 17:20 TOI. PP: 4G, 9P
SH: 0G, 0P
Sharky($3.1M): 12G, 25P, 1GWG, in 38GP, 16:43 TOI. PP: 1G, 4P
SH: 2G, 5P As one of the biggest critics of the trade at the time, I think the Flames did pretty well for themselves.
Full comparison

I was a critic of the return (I wanted more, who didnt?) but I never, ever wanted to re-sign Toffoli.
I really like Toffoli, he's talented and he's a character player but man...this team could not have that many old dudes on it for that long.
Scorangovich? He's been a pleasant surprise. And he's versatile.

I think I predicted 25-30 goals out of him when the trade went down. It's close, I guess we'll see....

If we are talking about Toffoli for Sharangovich and a 3rd, I was supportive of the trade given the market. Sharangovich seemed like a player that needed a better opportunity.

Imagine a team where we traded Blake Coleman, and had Emil instead.
Cap space and similar performance. The league is getting younger and faster, and it will keep happening with expansion.

If you think Heineman is comparable to Coleman, I don't know what to say to you.

22% shooting and plays 11 minutes a game. Not sure it’s sustainable.

Yeah and Aliaksei Protas is shooting 24%. No one is claiming he's going to be some big goal scorer or anything. You're going to get a higher percentage when lucks going your way and you bat a puck out of the air to score. Again, throwing out "shooting percentage!" is missing the point.
The point is that he's looking like a legit NHL player who's contributing to wins right now and Habs fans seem to really like him.

Ultimately the Flames have a few guys who look like they could turn into Heineman or better. You gotta give to get. Trading for Toffoli was the right move at the time and they managed to get Sharangovich and Suniev out of it all. Non-issue.

I might be wrong, but I remember Heineman being upset about the trade to Calgary and not wanting to play there. Might be misremembering though.
