Is he going to fly off to Africa with his WE buds?

Harper set the proroguing to avoid a loss of confidence precedent. It was anti-democratic then and it's anti-democratic now, but I'm glad to see it come back to bite the Cons in the butt.

So no functioning government but Trudeau stays on for 3 more months. It's like political groundhog day. Has the GG agreed to prorogue yet?

That’s nothing. I heard we are in for plus temperatures overnight tomorrow. The end of the carbon tax is near, and already global warming is winning. Thanks PP.

Trudeau also prorogued to cover up the WE scandal.

We need a CP purge of all liberal voters and supporters. Anyone who even posted slightly positive liberal posts on this thread is instant banned.
Time to take back CP.

Pardon the ignorance but how does this affect us with Trump becoming president on Jan 20 and us not having a stable government till potentially October?

Sounds like Carney is going to take a run at the leadership. In spite of his qualifications and stature, he has three things working against him: No network of allies or loyalty within the Liberal party; zero experience running a political campaign; he’s an establishment candidate in a climate that has turned strongly anti-establishment.
Whoever it is, a new Liberal leader will stop the bleeding. So will Trump returning to the White House (the Liberal election campaign will focus on comparing the CPC to MAGA). But I think the CPC still wind up with a majority.

Canada is effectively not a representative democracy at this point. It never really has been, but i if there was any doubt it's no longer a doubt.

It likely screws us and every canadian business that does any level of importing exporting or manufacturing with the US. Unless Trump backs down.

Like most people here, I’m able to have realistic conversations about the good and bad of any government I don’t support, whether they’re Liberal or UCP or whoever. As a fan of my posts, you’ll have noticed plenty of praise for O’Toole and (early) hopefulness for PP.
I know that doesn’t fit with your limited echo chamber where anything that isn’t criticism is seen as “support,” but I would hope you’d at least have some confidence in the CPC and save the excuses for a little further into the term.
Literally.

I think someone like Carney will shore up things enough to hold opposition, but with an excellent campaign and a few PP stumbles a majority is in question.
Whoever takes over, there is a very thin path to success. As much as the Liberals will hate it, the leader will almost have to run an anti-Trudeau campaign as opposed to an anti-PP campaign. Hard to see that being easy for them without a total reset inspired by a loss.
