When their entire personality is based around one person, it's only natural for them to have an existential crisis when that person will remove themselves from their life.
What are they supposed to do with all that merch?

While im happy the liberal party is finally able to rid themselves of Trudeau, proroguing at this time could be exceptionally bad for Canadian companies.

I think a Carney addition saves a few seats but not enough to move the cinematics l conservatives out of majority territory.

Just wait until Jagmeet plays ball with the Liberals on this so they can stretch it to a fall election. The Conservative boo lickers are going to lose their ####ing minds. This sure thing CPC majority might be at risk.

Trudeau’s arrogance and ego was his ultimate demise. He essentially turned his back on what Canadians wanted in pursuit of a legacy. His policies became grossly unpopular as they didn’t reflect the current economic situation of households. The damage has been done to the Liberal brand and I’m sure Canadians won’t be forgiving at the polls even if the new leader distances himself from Trudeau.

Sounds like the current lot of Liberal M.P.'s may not be too warm to the idea of Mark Carney. His lack of political experience being one major concern. The thing is that the one place where the Liberals have a really unfavorable view is the economy. Carney area of expertise happens to be exactly that.

I dont even know if it was the seeking of a legacy. The guy just doesnt live in the same world as the rest of us.
He bangs on and on about Canada and being Canadian but I dont think it means what he thinks it means. He's just completely disconnected from the reality of Canada as it is right now.
We dont all have 10 vacations a year and multiple mansions and never have to worry about money and bills. He cant relate to that and has never had to.
The way he sees Canada and the way the average citizen sees it are very widely different things.

With Trudeau finally on the outs, I will consider returning my vote to the Liberals again if a competent leader comes in. For me it's ABM (Anybody But Milhouse)

I don’t think the conservatives have anything to worry about even if the election is in the fall. 9 months won’t be anywhere near long enough to win over the droves of voters that the liberals have pushed away. It may be smarter to have the liberal party rip the bandaid off, call an early election (either way they are getting caved in) and start fresh. Clinging on life support will continue to upset more and more Canadians and will be viewed as a dying grasp on power.

It would have to be an absolutely insane turnaround of the polls to lose the majority by the fall but if anyone can do it, it's PP.

Whether he leaves early or later, he's left a poisoned chalice for the next leader or the next party. An economic and immigration ####sandwich mess that'll take a good long while to even start to clean up. Curious who would be dumb enough to try for the next liberal party leader - political suicide while you're in disarray and are going to be drop kicked in the teeth.

Paperbagger, I think you are vastly overestimating the political memory of the average voter. They say a week is a lifetime in politics. Trump staged a violent insurrection and was re-elected. Logically, that should not have happened. So thinking not much will change in the mind of voters probably doesn't track well. We have no idea what will happen in the next 8 months, but betting on staying the same isn't where I'd put money.

But lets get real here. There was no way the Cons were ever going to get a majority govt even with Trudeau at the helm.
All the Libs had to do was do a few attack ads of him giving the truckers an olive branch and Ontario would save us.

This is the issue for the CPC at this point. We all know they were rocketing in the polls because people hate Trudeau. If the new leader is not connected (which remains to be seen), are they still voting CPC?
