I think we can only do what we're doing.

We dont have the skill or talent to compete, but we're too good to tank.

Play the game and let come what may.

Let the Fellowship stay True.

Just beat the oilers every time and I’m probably good. Maybe the Canucks too.

If we could toss a a leafs game or two in that mix to make tre feel bad that would be super.

The thing is? If we're going to lose a game or two to the Leafs or Oil or whoever due to crappy reffing?

Okay. That doesnt move our needle all that much.

But make them earn every inch of it. Make them the most arduous, difficult and brutal 2 points of all time.

I'm talking 15+ minutes of Lomberg. Posposil with no handcuffs. You get the idea.

That would be a marked improvement for Cozens who has scored at the following rates through his first full seasons in the NHL

38 points
68 points
47 points
42 points (pro-rated this years production)

He looks like he is settling in to be a 40-50 point guy who struggles defensively. A third line center more or less. Your 55-65 point range seems like that would be more.

I think buffalo is getting like edmonton. Get that boy out if there before you cant wash the stink off him. At worse he is what he is an over paid bottom six but we don’t really have one if those either. At best he turns into a middle six top six center with some stability, and some different coaching and environment.

You say that like we want an overpaid bottom 6 centre.

Conroy isn’t making the same mistakes Brad did.
Zary for 6 I can see. No way Coronato is getting 6-7 and wolf getting 7+. Which comparables are you looking at for these players?

I can see Coronato at 4.5 at the VERY highest. I'm thinking 4M would be OK (think Dylan Holloway?). I think its tougher to value Wolf but I can see 5M (think Monteambault/Daccord?). All said and done, I think you can get the 3 done for 15M.

On long-term deals, you're likely in the 6-7M range for Zary and Coronato already, and if Wolf continues to grow the way he is...he may end up being a $9M goalie on his next contract if the Flames want to commit to him long term.

$7M on a $98M salary cap is 7.1% of the salary cap.
$7M on a $39M salary cap was 17.9% of the salary cap (Iginla, 05/06)
17.9% of a $98M salary cap is 17.5M.

$7M salary in 25/26 is $2.8M in 05/06, I feel like you’re still thinking $7M is top-line money or something.
Coronato isnt making 7 on his next deal...I am aware of the current economics

Why would you want to sign Coronato to a short term 2 or 3 year deal? That would be the worst situation. He certainly is not signing longterm for that price.

Comparing him to Dylan Holloway is an insult. Coronato has more points in 33 games this year than Holloway had in the 89 games he had played in his career before he signed his contract.

If the idea is to sign them to short term contracts so that the Flames can sign older free agents to big contracts to use up the 15 million or so they would have to spend to get to the cap floor that is a terrible idea.

40 point elite superstar Dylan Cozens makes 7.1 if you think these guys will sign for discounts I don’t know what to say. Wolf is a top 10 goalie. Goalies are getting paid now.

Maybe they will pay us to play for us.

I still think if Cozens can get out of that s**t show, he will become the #1/ 1b Center that he was projected to be. Hypothetically, if he was to be traded here, we have a coaching staff that is good at communicating, and teaching- and a pretty good leadership group.

If you sign them to short term contracts Craig will be forced to go out and spend big bucks on free agency this summer and next. Assuming the cap floor is 68 million bucks next year the Flames currently only have about 51 million in salaries. If they are not getting to the cap floor with the RFAs they will need to go hand out some big contracts to UFAs to get there.

Most guys continually improve year over year (like Reinhart did in Buffalo as did Eichel). It is a pretty big red flag to me that Cozens is unable to do that in a similar environment to what those guys played in.

His underlying numbers suck as well year over year. It’s a massive red flag.

He just might get a player who peaked early and is on a downward trajectory. Paying 7.1M for a 3rd liner will will be difficult.

I don’t see it in him. He sucks at almost every aspect of the game. Big and low IQ and overpaid.

Holloway was stunted on an oilers team imo. He's really starting to thrive now on the blues.

How about Knies? I'm hearing he's due for 6M. I just don't think coronato warrants 7M yet. In fact, im sure everyone would be throwing hands if that happened.

I just can’t see Craig taking a chance on short term deal with them. I think he has on fringe players but not these guys.

It will cost us but we have the cap to pay them

Hands in the air celebrating knowing we have a 30 goal maker tied up for 8 years.

I did. Buffalo signed a much worse player after a career year to 7.1 who is tracking to be a 3rd liner.

The Avs signed a goalie with a worse track record after 4 games to almost 6M on a long term deal.

You think they will sign 2 year bridge deals ? It’s in our best interest to lock them up and pay up.
