Some dudes that haven't been mentioned yet who could be potential adds....
Roman Cervenka - thanks to Jay Feaster doing his salesman bit and hyping him up as the best center not on the NHL and fans buying into it, he took a lot of heat for being a dud after being brought over...
Fredrik Modin - another Feaster special here bringing in a guy who produced a bit in Tampa but completely flopped with the Flames...
Going further back for us old guys...
Gary Leeman - guy has got to be on this team as he was the key piece coming back from Toronto in the worst trade in franchise history for legendary HHOFer Doug Gilmour
Edit - oh wait, Pepsi limited it to the year 2000 so Leeman doesn't apply here. Sorry for bringing up bad memories, guys!

"Whipping boy" is actually a term for a person who gets blamed for others' faults. So in sports it's usually a player who typically isn't very good but gets more than his fair share of criticism for overall team play. I think around here it's tied to salary a lot. Or a perception that the player is blocking some prospect from coming up.
I don't think, for example, James Neal or Rene Bourque are whipping boys - they got appropriate amounts of criticism. I do think guys like Rooney or Lewis have been. Huberdeau and Kadri certainly. Monahan was at certain times. Markstrom was. Wideman, Jaybo, Bennett, Stajan,

I actually liked Comeau, at least he could hold on to the puck and skate around the net
He was awesome. Would gain the zone while the other team caught flat footed, wouldn't pass nope. Went for a skate allowing the defence to set up, skate to the point and try to shoot it through a set defence hitting feet and sticks.
I still remember a game vs Colorado me and my friends are like I think Comeau is out there every other shift he might be getting more ice than Iginla. Looked at the end of the game and he did end up with more ice time.
Brandon Bollig was one of the most useless players I've ever seen in our uniform.
Always thought Alex Chiasson sucked too, but I remember coaches constantly playing him way above his capabilities in the top 6. He used to drive everyone crazy.

It's sad to realize how easy it is to list of 20 sucky Flames players in 20 seconds of thought, and be unable to come up with a second team Right Winger on the Quarter Century team.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I know they won’t make this list, but, for me, a ton of good will was lost in one press conference by the
“we aren’t having fun, he’s mean to me, he wants me to try”
twins.
I'd throw in Butler over Wideman on the first team. And Grossman even though it was a short stint (I think Wideman had his moments and shouldn't be on there at all).
And Brouwer is a first team all star in my eyes too over Bertuzzi. I thought we liked Bertuzzi as a player other than the idea of signing him in the first place. He had a good year. What about Amonte, never seen a player hit more posts?
Bertuzzi had his haters for sure, but I was at the Home Opener that season and the crowd went crazy when he was announced and specifically spoke to how much he was embraced in Calgary at the rink and around the city when he came here.
He was also really fun to watch to that season.
