Thats it. And I learned that from a TV show.

2) It takes seriously the technical discussions. One scene has a father/son discuss a concurrent programming problem, and it is a realistic problem, and they come up with a couple interesting solutions.

We'll see how it progresses, but am enjoying it so far.
Just finished season 1 of The Pantheon and I thought it was spectacular. Carefully crafted storyline, doesn't dumb anything down, delves into some philosophical existential ideas, and a great emotional ending with a set up for season 2. Honestly, surprised Ive heard nothing about this show before chancing upon it on Netflix. A real hidden gem.

Season 2 doesn't seem to be on any of my streaming services but hopefully it gets added to Netflix soon.

Cunk on Life is on Netflix as of Thursday. Too bad it's a one and done instead of several episodes, but it should be hilarious all the same.

I hope it includes updates on Belgian techno-anthem "Pump Up the Jam".

Trying Squid game season 2. Maybe I’m old school but how about some farming squid game. I can’t tell who anyone is on trying to establish the back story.

Does squid game ever start?

Lol my wife had it on in the background and I was wondering wtf the show was for a solid couple of hours until the actual competition started.

On another note, watching Silo right now and its pretty interesting. Took a while to get going but the latter half of season 1 and now season 2 have a solid pace. Between this and From I can confirm I'm a masochist, two dumb mystery shows that won't have any answers for me for another 5 years.

Silo - for me it’s taking forever to get anywhere. Rashida went outside early in season 1 and we still have no idea what’s going on.

Silo is slowly slipping into irrelevance to me.

Im still watching it, but its almost background viewing at this point.

I actually liked Season 2 of Squid Game. It was interesting to see a bit more of the Recruiter, and i didnt mind the fact that it took a couple episodes to get into the games - but i have seen that criticism.

For a tv show about the impacts of capitalism and corporate democracy, it's funny to watch people clamour for the "Bread and games" part

Finally got around to watching both Dune movies, and now I'm starting the Ascension series. For anyone more knowledgeable about the universe, is there a reason that technology hasn't changed in the 10,000 years between the series and movies?

I found this online:

https://screenrant.com/dune-prophecy...s-same-reason/

Quote:
The general absence of computers could be a reason why technology doesn't develop much over the next several millennia, and on the matter, TV Line spoke with Dune: Prophecy executive producer Jordan Goldberg, who said the following:

"I can’t give you an answer why the tech doesn’t evolve over 10,000 years — save for the possibility that, as long ago as when Dune: Prophecy is set, it seemed to be getting the job done perfectly fine. And thus maybe didn’t demand any upgrade."
So basically -- no, there is no reasonable explanation. It's absurd to write a storyline where any civilization, even one that has outlawed AI and computers, wouldn't advance technologically in 10,000 years. I've heard it was loosely based on some of Brian Herbert's follow up novels, which would explain that.

I think for Herbert in his Dune universe, his story focus has been on biological advancement and specialization, culminating in the god-like powers of Paul and his children.

Yeah in Frank Herbert's Dune novels there is progression, but strong resistance to computer-type technologies. The Tleilaxu and Ixians are continuing to develop things. Brian Herbert's books are the ones that have the "nothing has changed in 10,000 years" mentality including the same families in the same roles.

I'm enjoying the slow burn, and seeing what changes are being made in the adaptation vs the original novels. But I can definitely see how the pacing isn't for everyone.
