That Meier knee on Necas is hard to watch.

Thoughts on this hit?

This game might end in a brawl. Orlov with some bush league shenanigans just now.

I dunno. I don't see a malicious hit, just a bad miss and a player who tried to dodge. I get why the penalty I suppose, but that should be the end of it. No supplementary discipline I would expect

Necas was getting rocked either way there. May have been better off just bracing for the hit, not even sure Meier felt his knee, the way it gave away.

So....did the Rangers just decide they didn't feel like playing the rest of this season?

Just watching the post HNIC game roundtable. Guys are discussing Byfield's tape job and that he didn't retape his stick during the game, Bieksa brought it up. Ol' homer Ronny just can't help himself. Takes the time to tell us that Mcdavid doesn't touch the tape on his stick. How do you know this Ron? Do you follow him around the rink?

Mixed feelings watching the Celebrini HNIC interview. Damn, these kids get younger everyday, that kid looks 16. Seems humble enough and honest- no standard hockey player answers. But kid has pretty much every privilege possible- obviously wealthy parents in professional sports, dad athletic therapist for Golden State, shoutouts from Steve Nash and Draymond Green.

Celebrini is going to be a top player in the league before long.

The Flyers knock off the Ducks 3-1. The PK was great for both teams, 4/4 for the Flyers and 5/5 for the Ducks.

The Senators had a 2-0 lead midway through the 2nd period and then it disappeared quickly as the Jets struck back to win 4-2. Hellebuyck made 34 saves and bailed his team out for the win.

The home teams have won all 4 games in the home/away series.

The first few times I saw him in junior and at the WJCs, I thought he was a really talented and well-rounded player, but I didn't think he was as elite as some #1s like Bedard, for example.

But watching him this year, and last night, he is definitely a special player. My first thought last night was that he reminded me of a young Kopitar (when he was good all around, but still offence-first), but after thinking about it a bit more, I think a better comparison is Bryan Trottier.

I don't think Trottier ever won the scoring title, but he had 6 100 pt seasons and was over 1 PPG 11 times, including 95 pts as a 19YO rookie. People often said that his numbers were propped up by being on a powerhouse team and playing with Bossy, but Trottier was the straw that stirred the drink offensively. He was also elite defensively, and was arguably the best 200 ft center of his time (much like Kopitar).

Celebrini shows signs that he could become that player one day. He isn't flashy (much like Trottier), but he always makes the smart play and always finds the open player to pass to (much like Trottier). He has awareness all over the ice, and the brains and tools to make the right plays defensively as well.

Again, watching him last night, I kept thinking: Bedard may be more talented offensively, but I would much rather have Celebrini. I think he is going to be the better player, and more valuable player, going forward.
