Worst part is they scouted him extensively and when I asked was only told "we loved him"
Brian Burke blew that draft just like he did drafting his four years in Toronto

Wow that just makes it worse. You want to reach with a pick you do it with a player like Point not a 4 point player like Smith.
It’s even more annoying because Burke put views on how the game should be played based on something that happened 7 years prior to the draft. The league was moving forward with skill teams like Chicago, LA, Boston, Tampa. They had some size but I wouldn’t call Bergeron or Kopitar truculent players.
I still remember when he fired Feaster and in his press conference said the Alberta is Black and Blue hockey and that’s what the fans want. I’d love to see the fan survey they took to get to that conclusion.

I believe Burke punched a fan in the face and watched what colour he turned. It was black and blue. Survey concluded.

Well that’s mistake probably cost us in a big way. A massive flub when one guy decides to #### things up.
It’s also more praise on how we are doing things right now by getting picks and actually picking skilled players and not career plumbers like Hunter Smith because he can change Burkes light bulb without a ladder.

Every team made the mistake of not drafting Point including the lightning he passed on him several times including to draft Jonathan McLeod
It’s old news. Is there some sort of fresh perspective or new take on it?

Yeah, Calgary and 15 other teams IIRC. Tampa drafted him, after drafting a guy who's not in the NHL and two others who have a combined zero NHL games. No one drafted Andrew Mangiapane in 2014 either, no one drafted him in 2015 until the 6th round. Like I get wishing we had Pointe but the whole "THEY DIDN'T INTERVIEW HIM!" thing is pretty lame. Point proved everyone wrong, ten years ago. The outrage is a little much, Scooter.

I remember a few posters being outraged the Flames somehow let Martin Jones slip through their fingers.

Battaglia’s Frontenacs are 7th in the OHL, although they aren’t far up on Parekh’s team, or Mews’ team (only ahead by 6 points).
Morin’s Wildcats are in first-place in the Q.
Basha’s Tigers are 4th in the WHL for points, but thier Win % is 11th.
Jamieson’s Silvertips are the top team in the WHL by a wide margin.

If the Flames had signed Misa to his ELC by yesterday, his contract could have slid next year if he plays for the Wranglers in the 2025/26 season. Is he potentially looking to play in the NCAA next season and wants to maintain his eligibility for that league?

Kerins with 2 more goals. Don’t quite understand why he never gets a shot with the big club. 21 goals in 32 games. It’s not like he’s cooling off. It’s the Flames biggest problem. He’s a center.
Maybe there’s something they don’t think is going to transfer to the NHL? Or there haven’t been injuries/opportunities to try him out. It’s not like our centers are lighting the world on fire.

He went from C prospect to interesting in the last three months.
He's hardly being held back. Why change the formula that's working (giving him a huge role in the AHL).
We've seen with Pelletier that there is a line between being put in the wrong role in the NHL (or sitting), and playing a prominent, confidence role in the AHL.
I'm all for a late season reward call up, but let him cook.

He is playing well right now. That's a good thing. Moving him up to the big club means eating popcorn some nights and playing 8 to 10 minutes other nights. That can really dampen a player's momentum and confidence. What's wrong with letting him continue to roll? The guys know that management is watching them, and of course they're talking to them.
