On March 2, 2023, the Oilers acquired Nick Bjugstad from Arizona, along with Cam Dineen, for a prospect and a 3rd round pick. Bjugstad played 19 regular season and 12 playoff games for the Oilers, before re-signing with Arizona in the summer as a free agent.
The prospect was Michael Kesselring, is in his second season with Utah/Arizona, playing almost 19 minutes a night, with 15 points in 34 games, and +11, while making 1.4 against the cap.

The National Hockey League said on Wednesday that the Oilers have been fined an undisclosed sum for holding a practice on Christmas Day. Lowe said he would pay the fine out of his own bank account.
"It's a little bit ridiculous, quite frankly," Lowe said.
The Oilers held a light skate Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., which contravenes the NHL's collective agreement, in order to give their players an extra day off before Christmas.
"It was in the best interest of putting a good product on the ice so the fans can enjoy the game. I was a player for 20 years and I knew I didn't like going into a game unprepared so I really think it's essential that we protect our players."
It is unclear, depending on whom you talk to, whether the Oilers openly defied the NHL. Lowe said the league didn't find out about the practice until after it was held and that he would have done it anyway.

Moroz, the guy picked with the 3rd round pick is also putting up numbers in the KHL as a 21 year old.
