Is Mo Salah gonna slow down at some point?
Really want them to slip up obviously, but what a player
I dont know...there are rumours that they've got a 3-year deal ready for him, but the man is an absolute UNIT.
What I read about his fitness and training regimens is nuts. He works out, goes to training, works out again and then goes home and does cardio.
He goes to the gym after games. I dont know when he rests.
And he often plays the full match if not most of it. Today he got subbed for rest...in the 87th minute. And he was choked about it. After 2 goals and 2 assists.

Salah is amazing. But man...I'd love to know what they saw in Salah that Chelsea and Roma didnt? I remember when Liverpool bought him fans were surprised. You couldn't name another Egyptian player and here this turns out to be one of the best players in the world.
You see Mo Salah coming down that wing in full flight and defenders must be terrified.

Chelsea having De Bruyne and Salah at the same time only for both to come back to the Premier League and thrive is certainly fun to think about. Just like them trying to sign back Declan Rice after having him as a youth player.
Roma weren’t in a great financial position then, and were basically taking profit where they could get it. So making ~30M profit on a winger after a season while Dzeko was breaking club scoring records was necessary business for them at the time.

Yeah, the concept of Prime De Bruyne pinging passes to Prime Salah is insane to think about.
Thank god that never happened. Cuz....#### Chelsea amirite??

I mean credit to Ange for never wanting to defend, but getting clapped like this can't be too much fun.
This is kind of the thing. Right now Spurs are in the bottom-half of the table.
Have a look at it. They are 11th.
Look at the teams 11th and on down...they are pretty miserable but...Spurs? They are +14 in goal differential after just getting stuffed. That is actually pretty impressive.
If they played some defense they'd probably accrue some more points. Ange's approach is fun and all...but will it work in the PL? He thinks it will long term but I'm skeptical. And, at this point, Spurs aren't going to need to worry about Europe.
They got carved today, okay, its Liverpool, but still. Good coaches adapt to the circumstances that are ahead of them.

And I think a lot of people are looking at Liverpool and loving that front 3, even though we've been without Jota for a while and Darwin is...'inconsistent at best' but really?
Mac Allister and, IMO, Gravenberch. They just own the midfield.
Gravenberch has been a revelation this season.

I keep seeing this criticism of Ange and whether this will work, but it’s ridiculous. We’ve got so many injuries that any club would have defensive issues at this point. Take your top two CBs, keeper and a full back out (for starters) and of course they’re leaking goals. I mean today we had to play Archie Gray (who I think has played once as a CB before, and that was this past week), because not only are we missing both VDV and Romero, but Ben Davies as well. It’s a recipe for disaster.
On top of that we’ve had the Bentancur suspension, Odobert injury and Richarlison. Things are thin, and this is why fans are upset with Levy for not getting proper depth. But today, you have a look at the bench and there are kids you’ve never heard of, and Sergio Reguilon. It’s bad. And we were going against the current leaders, who had an extra days rest (and played Southampton, so they could play their 2nd string anyway), and their in form. It’s not a system issue at all.

Done it. Finished 2nd behind the cheaters.
Remember when VVD got injured, Matip always injured, Kelleher playing in net.
Thats why you need to invest in your Academy.
People can bitch and moan at Levy all they want, but the fact of the matter is that Football is a revolving door.
Unless you can pay City's wages, you cant have 2 international superstars at every position...you wont be able to keep them happy, there isnt enough playing time, the money becomes outrageous.
You want to whinge at Levy? It should be because why dont you have some kids in the pipe that can step in?

Missing CBs is tough. Liverpool went through an injury crisis like that 3 or 4 years ago and we had relegation level form for a month or two (the season Alisson’s miracle header helped salvage a CL spot).

Yeah this is what I recall. And this questionable system has us with one game we’ve lost by more than a goal (today), more goals for than anyone else in the league and with a goal differential that is far better than our record as a result. But sure…it’s the system, and not the injury crisis.
The issue for Spurs, is that this is the second year in a row we’ve run into this. It’s a failure of the front office to not bolster the squad, plain and simple. You’re not going to compete in three competitions (soon to be four) with ~18-20 guys capable of starting games. And of course your defence falls apart when you lose 3/4 of your backline.

And you're right, I'm not disagreeing with you, its just that you need Academy players to step into roles when the transfer window is closed.
You can't have a thin squad and no Academy. Thats a recipe for failure.

Yeah, but it’s also completely unrealistic to think you’re going to have academy players to step in and replace Romero and Van de Ven two years in a row. That’s on Levy and the front office. You roll in today and play an 18 year old out of his preferred position against the league leaders and people have the audacity to say it’s the system. As if with that backline we should be soaking up the pressure and that would’ve been the path to victory.
And you can see the issue with City as well. Both teams have a pile of man games lost to injury this year, and unsurprisingly both of us are facing a big challenge.
