Don’t think I’ll ever buy own one as they’ll be in 40-50 year old range by the time I’d consider a silly purchase like that, but I’ve always loved early 90s SUVs. Range Rover, Land Cruiser, Trooper, Bronco. I love that look.

Probably why I love the G-class. The new Bronco is pretty nice (not the sport version, ugly) but it’s a crime what they’ve done to the Range Rover over the last 35 years.

A few of my all-time favourites from that era. I dreamed about owning them but never actually did. Maybe one day...

1996 Acura Legend
1992 Ford Mustang 5.0

I remember drooling over the Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo back in 1994ish. Oh and the Viper, too. I remember having a car full of my friends in high school and we went ape #### when we saw one irl for the first time...that was sick.

I also liked how the wealthy people I knew (like, their parents) had old 60s muscle cars and daily drivers were more basic things (high trim Acuras, couple Lexus guys, the odd BMW, 300zx, RX7s, Supras, etc.) It was before the wealthy Calgarians felt the need for top-of-the-line German cars or super cars. I think people didn't want to come across as ostentatious. A Suburban was a fancy SUV back then (talking mid- to upper-middle class Calgary families).

Enter Escalades and all the other flashy #### by the late 1990s/early 2000s and those aspirational cars I liked became either too out of reach or too conspicuous that they're kinda no fun to me.

I've dabbled in the high performance pricey car thing, but I'm actually looking at last generation Mustangs right now. I'm just more comfortable there and it does bring me back to the Celica GTSs, Fox Bodies, MR2s, and other accessible and fun vehicles I liked growing up. Probably just a phase for now, but I rather enjoy a car most people could also enjoy, too, versus some exclusive machine that I can't even use 25% of its capabilities.

But man was walking into a dealership back then a different world. I clearly remember in 1993 walking into Toyota and looking at a Supra, Celica and MR2 just sitting there for sale like it was nothing in the showroom. Heck even a Corolla GT-S was a fun car normies bought.

The everyman used to really enjoy fun cars. Same with Honda and the Prelude, Del Sol and Civic SI. Just fun cars that people enjoyed.

Was a really fun time to be into cars. Oh, and since they were all so light (lack of safety stuff, I know), they were all super good on gas.

Those are nice cars for modifying, they've never lost that spirit. They can be as stock or as modded as you want them.

For me...I've just kind of always been against high-end cars, whether its status or performance that just come out of the factory.

Like...all you did was buy it. I can do that. Anyone can just buy the car.

For instance, at my old office my neighbour bought a new Mustang, so I told him I'd bring mine the next day.

So I bring my Mustang. Its 30 years old, custom engine, transmission and rear differential and I built most of it myself and with my friends over the course of a few years. It makes 550hp.

What did you do?

"I...um...went in the dealership and um...bought it."

Yeah and I could do that this afternoon too. Wheres the fun in that?

Thats the beauty of those 80s/90s cars. You could really make them YOURS.

Even if they're crapboxes, especially if they're crapboxes!! You want to modify something? You dont care if theres a scuff here or a scrape there, its yours!

Now if you scrape a car its hundreds if not thousands of dollars to fix!

Yeah the air cooled engine in the back with the radiator in the front was a pain. My sisters boyfriend added a fan in mine that I could turn on with a switch that helped a little bit.

Yup it was white with the black trim. I can’t remember what the end of it was but it was comically such low quality looking back. The dash literally fell apart in the sun. All the door storage pockets fell off. The roof liner would just fall down. Basically the entire interior was a disaster. Nothing worked right in the end.

The powertrain however was bulletproof. It made many trips across the country and has the car started to fall apart around the engine, it would just start and run all day long. Odd car

I'm not sure if this thread is "favourite 90s cars" or "favourite cars from the 90s that you owned".

So I'll do both:

Favourite 90s cars:

McLaren F1

Corvette C5

Car I actually owned:
Chevrolet Camaro (4G)

First vehicle was a 1997 Chev 1500 extended cab short box. Burgundy exterior with burgundy interior - still my favorite vehicle to date.

Thanks Torquedog, the McLaren is gorgeous… I was just chuckling to myself thinking how nice and sensible we’re all being.

My favourite vehicle all time is from the 90s… and I didn’t think to name it either…. 1998 Dodge Viper.

The Dodge Stealth was wicked too!

1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen. I wanted a Saab so badly, sucks they're not making them anymore.
