I've argued entertainment. Give us Colorado for someone to hate, give us Michigan to see if a power five team can win a natty with a service academy offense.

Miami is the only team IMO who has a legit gripe. Decent strength of schedule and only two losses but hey that's how she goes. Cry less and watch more I suppose.

Can you imagine if Texas does Texas things here and loses to the 12 seed? Could be pretty funny. I wonder how long Ewers' leash is going to be today.

It’s OK to say Indiana (and SMU) were/are overrated. It’s not reasonable to suggest that Indiana (especially) hadn’t earned their way into the playoff.
If Michigan or Ohio State with the exact same schedule and resume had gone 11-1 (which isn’t unlikely in some future season) they make the playoff 1,000 times out of 1,000.

Yes this punishes the super conferences but that’s their problem. If they wanted to finish 11-1, they shouldn’t have stolen all the best teams from other conferences.
College football is damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Every choice is controversial.
But this has always been the way. The pendulum swings every year based on previous choices. FSU “deserved” to be in but got left out and that influenced this years choices. Next year we may see it swing back where they’ll take SEC or B10 teams and put them in with more losses than an ACC or B12 team.
Except ND. Everyone hates ND and regardless of record or SOS wants them left out. I hope they beat Georgia and finally get that monkey off their back. I want a ND/Oregon NC. Then everyone is pissed off no matter what happens.

Definitely truth to this. But I just want to see the best teams in the playoff.
The idea of number of losses being a bright line for participation doesn’t work for me. I’d rather say if your SOS isn’t in say the top 50, you’re not getting an at large bid.
I’m fine with Clemson, Boise and AZ State playing. But SMU and Indiana should not have received invites.
I also agree that the SEC creating a super conference isn’t the best for college football but that’s how it is. Maybe the SEC should have their own playoff and they can play the winner of this one.

You’re not wrong about that girly. If you’re a Michigan or OSU and start higher you just get the benefit of the doubt. Technically that’s what PSU was this year but they had the one extra championship game game. They lost to OSU same as Indiana and also beat just one ranked team in Illinois. Similarly Texas with A&M. But yeah I think this is where you need that impartial ranking factor, whether it be computers or oddsmakers that can take that bias out of things. Coaches and writers and committee members have shown themselves incapable of looking past it.

OSU arguably has the best collection of athletes in the country. When they’re on they can beat anyone. Tennessee is a good team no doubt but they’re punching up above their weight here in a hostile environment. If the buckeyes win this out I am definitely worried as an Oregon fan going into next week. Rematch of a game we barely won.

I mean Ryan Day sucks against good teams, so by default I cannot consider Tennessee a good team. But yeah what an embarrassing start for Tennessee, good news is it's looking like those Vols fans can hit the road early to beat traffic. Gotta take the small wins when they come.

12 teams is too many but hey at least it looks like the seeding was perfect, 9-12 all going home with their tails between their legs to start

I feel like if you're making Will Howard look like prime Tom Brady you probably stink. This one looking like it'll be the smelliest game of the weekend.

If Vols come out and score to start the second half might have a game here.

OSU is still way more explosive than Tennessee so they’re going to need some stops and mistakes to win but I just hope we get a decent second half. It has been a pretty miserable opening weekend for good football.

NFL games today were solid at least. It would be nice if we could get one college game this weekend where a team even has the ball with a chance to take the lead past the first quarter lol.

It is kinda funny the worst beating of the weekend was laid on an SEC team by the lowest seeded home team playing. Weird though I haven't seen a lot of chatter about how Tennessee didn't deserve to be there. I'm sure it's a simple oversight
