The reason why it’s important to have an enforced collective agreement is because without it the company would be able to do literally everything in your example that you and I’m assuming the terminated employees disagreed with them doing, with no recourse for employees at all.

Well, I was fortunate (or unfortunate) part of it was, I got to see it from both sides, so in this particular case, I know what happened. I had been with the company in a non-union position, but I was working very closely with the seniority lists, so I knew exactly how they were divided. I left the company just before they lost half the work in that classification, but I moved to another company at the same location and thus, maintained close contact with the unionized employees.

I don't know at whch point the company and the union colluded to change the seniority classifications, but I do know it was done, and I saw the statements by both the company and the union that this classification seniority list never existed, even though it had been in place for about 5 years before I left the company. They didn't argue that they merged it or changed it when thye lost the work; they argued that it never existed.

Most of the employees paid no attention to posted lists, because layoffs were not really a thing. The only time they tended to care was when there was vacation bids or post bids. A complaint to the labour board was filed, but since the employees who filed had no proof, and since both the company and the union denied that this seniority list had ever actually existed, it went nowhere. As I was no longer with the company, I had not kept any documents such as seniority lists.

Obviously I wasn't privy to the union decision, but it was fairly easy to speculate that because the group involved was quite small compared to the rest of the classifications, that either they just didn't care, or some sort of deal was made.

That really doesn’t make any sense for that to be the motivation.

He knows there’s an election coming soon. JS is alreasy campaigning in the media that the choice is between PP and himself and fear mongering about the conservatives.

PP is reminding people how we got here and Singh’s part in it.

The campaign has started and I’m betting this will be an ugly one.

Sorry I thought when you said ‘He’. You were referring to Jagmeet. That makes sense now.

I’m getting 6.69 without cheese and 7.29 with cheese in the McDonald’s app set to calgary

I’m pretty sure yours is not the actual McDonald’s website.

https://www.mcdonalds.com/ca/en-ca/p...th-cheese.html

No pricing info.

I thought Abacus's numbers should be taken with a grain of salt because they usually have the Cons 1-2 pts higher than others, maybe not.

https://canadianpolling.ca/Canada-2021
Newest numbers
Ipsos 25pt gap
Mainstreet 29pt gap

Even Ekos which normally has the Liberals 3-6pts higher than any other pollster has it at a 25pt gap.

I'm guessing these polls don't even include the last couple of days. NDP numbers haven't changed, this is voters going directly from the Liberals to the CPC.

EKOS poll:

CPC 251 seats
Bloc 44
NDP 33
Lib 14
Green 1

If true the Liberals would be close to losing official party status. You need 12 seats.

This could happen. The campaign could also cause a bunch of people to have second thoughts about Poilievre. Not enough to affect a majority, but I think we are peak anti-liberal right now.

I think if trudeau doesn’t step down there’s still runway for him to keep driving the liberals further into the ground.

It appears as though Jagmeet found PP’s old glasses, and is also looking through that same ‘lens’!

I really did struggle to see how there was any other logical way for the NDP to handle this situation. It was the correct move by Jagmeet.

Peak anti-Liberal is when they get zero seats and are disbanded as a party and cast into the garbage.

We're not quite there yet.

The hell is with the cabinet shuffle? The deck chairs on the Titanic?

Resume padding? Almost feel bad for the new ministers who will be moving into their offices. Why unbox anything?

Unless of course Singh is crying wolf.

They had ministers resign, and portfolios that need to be managed. I'm not sure the rules around that, but I assume they have to have someone doing the job.

The cynical political answer is that it boosts candidate name recognition for the next election. A cabinet minister portfolio is going to look better on the resume, even if it is just for two months.

One MP who refused an appointment told a media member why would I step into a burning building. I can’t see how there isn’t going to be a spring election.

I’m told the ex housing minister Sean Fraser was actually well liked and quite smart. Not sure whether he quit or was fired.

Edit: did a search. He stepped down in his own.

Do you really think being a cabinet minister for the last two months is going to look better for any of these people? I think it might make them look worse! The closer you are to JT the more you can be associated with him.
Probably will hurt them more than it will help. I could be wrong, just my opinion.

I think Fuzz is basically right, someone has to be in the seat!

I dont know if you can just leave it vacant, that would be like waving the white flag of surrender.

And maybe, if others think the way we do, the members going into these positions are either being forced via Party Loyalty rather than jumping with glee at the 'promotion.'
