I don’t know if it’s sensitive info, but Interested in a similar build some day out in the BC coast, what are you sort of looking at for the total construction cost out there? I guess your location has some road access or was everything brought in by barge?

Wow that’s way better. Black trim in Calgary seizes window company brains here.

I think the grey with a bright orange or salmon door would look amazing.

There's many types of black frame windows. Big price range.

Well I suspect most people would want white trim inside and black trim on the outside. I can't see how that wouldn't be a lot more expensive in Calgary since almost all suppliers insist on one piece vinyl frames. You'd have to clad the outside with aluminum or steel.

Good. Then I'm allowed to freely rip on the choice of black. Especially terrible choice for a summer place. The build looks great though!

I can't tell if Pepsi is joking... anyway the entry door is either going to be black or wood, I'm not reinventing the wheel here and hardly anyone I'm not related to is ever going to see it.

We're going to see it and we're the ones that matter the most.

There are metal-clad vinyl windows with metal in, out, or both.
Metal-clad wood windows.
Wrapped vinyl frames (different manufacturers have different products, but essentially a "skin" that is applied in the factory); wrap in, out or both.
Fiberglass framed windows, available in black.
Painted vinyl. Cheapest way to get black frames.

There are a ton of different styles of windows that drive pricing beyond the colour of the frame. White vinyl is the cheapest option, though.

Architect's choice on the colour.
When you reference the summer, are you meaning hot to the touch? I could see that being a thing, although I've been beside some white houses that radiate so much heat it can be uncomfortable and blinding. I feel like black couldn't be any worse.

Obviously I’m not joking. Look it up. Very modern and very cool.

A nice wood with some standout yellow or reddish tone to it would be cool. Don’t do black though. Why build a house and have it be boring.

That's a different design obviously but it's basically the vibe I'm going for, I think. At least, that's the way I'm leaning.

I like that look for a house in a wooded setting for sure.

More for absorbed heat into the structure and comfort/cooling load. We put a dark roof on our house and panted it a dark colour (not black) and it's noticeably worse.
