New Sheridan series Landman started yesterday. Instead of cowboys the heroes are oil workers in West Texas. Billy Bob Thornton in the lead role, John Hamm or Demi Moore in small roles so far. It was ok- what you'd expect from Sheridan. Despite him seeming sketchy in his personal life Billy Bob Thornton is usually good onscreen, he is good here.
And of course the actor who is in EVERY taylor sheridan show, James Jordan has a role. I've never seen so much actor recycling... it's almost comical at this point.

I find a lot of shows are like this, especially when it isn't written to have a shelf life and pre-set run time. You just end of getting more filler to keep it going longer. For me, Dexter, SoA, The Walking Dead all fell into that. Not to mention Westworld. What the hell happened there. Loved the show for the first couple of seasons, then it just bombed after that.

Special Ops Lioness is another Sheridan show that is really good actually. Might be the best one yet.
To me a lot of his shows have massive potential, and start off great, but with time they just become stale same old stuff over and over again.
Yellowstone looks like it might have a unique ending. Can already predict it.

Well, there goes that then. I couldn't make it through the first season of Yellowstone, and based on early comments in this thread I thought I might givev1883 a try - but maybe not.
I with Sam Elliot when it comes to Yellowstone

I had no idea the new episode had aired. It's been so long, I've completely lost interest in this show. Once all the episodes have dropped, I might binge the rest later if I have time. But right now I just don't give a crap.
I do like Sheridan, but I'm more a fan of his movies than his TV shows.

Just watched the second episode of Landman... I might have to retract my statement about it being good.. Enjoying the ins and outs showing politics and hazards in the oilfield and I don't get offended about non-political correctness (it is the oilfield after all and I've worked in a few similar workplaces..) but there's some ickiness about a 27 year old rocket (Michelle Randolph, from 1923) posing as a promiscuous 17 year old and some of the men's reaction to her. There's a bit of sliminess about this show....

Well, that's a wrap on Yellowstone. Nothing shocking in that finale really.
Sounds like a crap ton of spin offs coming though.
Beth and Rip supposedly getting one centered around their new ranch near Dillon.
Another called The Madison featuring a wealthy NYC family that moves to Montana,, Michelle Pheiffer and Matthew Fox to star
The four 6's spinoff.
Second season of 1923 coming in February.
I read somewhere that another one of these called 1944 is supposed to happen as well, following another generation of the Dutton clan.

Yes, just watched the finale and I totally agree- nothing shocking. Jamie was the last 'loose end' going to be killed off somehow, and from there just a decision who would end up on which spin-off. 6666'vs the beth/rip spinoff. Maybe a Kayce spinoff too? It's a lot harder to get too emotional about a 'series' finale when you know 80% of the characters are going to be in a spinoff

It certainly wasn't a super special finale people will be talking about (good or bad) for years to come. It did what it needed to, I guess.
Some meaningless stuff about the pipeline, the world's fastest land sale, and an Attorney General goes 'missing' and everyone in Montana seems to be happy to just forget anything happened even though the circumstances are incredibly sketchy. And another pointless example of Taylor Sheridan inserting himself into one of his shows.

I found the season ending finale to be too predictable. I had figured out by the end of episode 14 what was going to happen to Jamie who Kayce was going to sell the ranch to. No surprises.

That final season would have been way better if nobody knew ahead of time that Costner was leaving and they would have killed him onscreen the same way they killed him off screen. It would have been shocking and really amped up the emotion.
I think they did pretty good given the situation they were dealt.

#### this ending.
Outside of the wild nature message, I'm having a hard time sympathizing with Sheridan's vision on this one.

Hahaha
You didn't really think the protagonists of the entire series were going to lose out in the end did you?
Besides, these "mass murderers" were just trying to live their lives on their ranch and people kept coming after them trying all sorts of different ways to steal it from them. All they were ultimately doing the whole time was protecting what was theirs.
"Yeah, well their ancestors stole it from the Natives in the first place"
Yep, and look at who they ended up giving it back to for pennies on the dollar in the end. I think that was part of TS' vision

Yeah, I totally lost interest in this show, I actually dont even remember when.
Rip was a cool character, but the rest of them were completely ridiculous.
Beth was preposterous and it just didn't work for me after a while.
I think the best characters were that incomprehensible farmhand lady and Captain Ancient...I dont even remember their names.
And frankly, Taylor Sheridan seems like a bit of a Dbag.

Ah, totally justified then. Kill everyone, dump their bodies, have a square dance with drunken Beth. Who am I not to live that.

If you watched that show, which is a work of fiction BTW, with the hope that the main characters would all get what was coming to them in the end, then you have no one but yourself to blame for your current angry state, which is absolutely hilarious BTW

Angry? I just thought it was annoying and elitist. Not unlike lots of other series. You need to touch some grass, you seem to be taking offence to my opinion on a TV show. Go outside, babe

Haha, your post sounded pretty angry. Swear filter kicking in even.
And no, I'm not offended at all. I just thought it was funny that you expected the protagonists to eat it at the end of that show, and then seemed so pissed off about it when it didn't happen that way.
All good.

I'm trying to grasp if there is actually a real world where the women all swoon over Taylor Sheridan's mad riding skills! He sure likes to dedicate a lot of camera time to himself doing the same 2 or 3 moves on his fancy horses.
