Minor gear grinder: when you order a coffee and they give you the wrong side, but when you tell them they said "that's OK because it's larger".

And they seem pissed off when you ask for the coffee in the correct size.

No. I don't want a larger coffee. I don't want more caffeine and it throws off the flavor balance I'm looking for.

At a McDonald's once I ordered a burger and fries, no drink. The teen behind the counter insisted I get the drink because it was only 20 cents more.

"I don't want the drink, I already have a bottle of water in the car."

"But it's only 20 cents more."

"Great, but I don't need it."

"Why wouldn't you get a drink if it's only 20 cents?"

"Because I don't want it."

"But then you would have an extra drink, and you wouldn't have to pay $1.50 for it."

"I wouldn't pay either 20 cents or $1.50 because I don't want the drink."

We both walked away from that transaction confused, but for entirely different reasons.

Yeah, but, like, then they're going to dump that coffee, make another one, waste a cup, waste a lid, waste the coffee/sugar/milk, potentially get in #### all because the coffee will taste a tiny bit different this one time. I think being easy going for the odd time this happens isn't a big expectation of a customer.

Why should someone accept something other than what they specifically paid for? Mistakes aren't the consumers' cost to bear, and getting an order right isn't a big expectation of a business.

It shouldn't as those sureshot dispensers (Tim's, McDonalds, etc) are calibrated by size so the coffee should have the same ratio of sugar and cream regardless of size. Now if he's getting his coffee from a place that doesn't use this then I can see why the flavor may be different.

I don’t think there’s anywhere where the amount of cream/sugar isn’t matched to the size of the coffee. If they accidentally give you a large when you ordered a medium that should cause literally zero stress to the person who ordered it. Seems nitpicky.

Opposite of gear grinder, UPS actually attempted delivery of my new phone requiring a signature. Usually they just mark it no one home and drive away.

Now the gear grinder. Literally 10 minutes before my new phone arrives, the battery in my old one that's been waning for months toasts itself completely. Another hour is all I needed to get things transferred over. FML.

No. If I order a medium with two cream, I want the ratio of two cream servings to 13 oz of coffee, not two cream servings to 19 oz of coffee.

If you're giving me 19 oz of coffee, better make it three cream servings so the ratio is right.
