A lot of these things probably just get over reported as well.
I work for a provincial ministry that has a couple of 24 hour emergency numbers to report environmental emergencies and we often get people reporting to both, in addition to other agencies that have reporting lines (DFO, Environment Canada, Coast Guard, municipalities, First Nations, regional districts, health authorities, police, fire departments, Transport Canada, media outlets, etc...). Some times it happens over a few days as well, and then of course all these agencies report what they hear to each other so there ends up being duplication. Sometimes it gets hard to separate what a new report is and what is duplication of previous reports.
I would bet that some of that is happening here with the drone reports.

This might not be that interesting to some, but it is particularly eye-raising that the CIA is attending/conducting this briefing. They don't operate on domestic issues and are notoriously tight-lipped about their (usually) top-secret, international intelligence activities. Domestic intelligence and security issues typically fall under the jurisdiction of the FBI, which is responsible for investigating threats and conducting surveillance within U.S. borders.
Effectively this could mean that there is some foreign adversary involvement here, or at the very least, not simply "hobby drones" as some government officials are making this out to be. It could be for relatively prosaic reasons why they're there too, but this may be turning into an inter-agency file, which is actually a good thing given the historically-siloed stovepiping of information between these agencies.
This guy making a case for a NASA testing program. I often suspect he carries water for the US military industrial complex but he doesn't promote conspiracy theories:
