Honestly after those public comments about getting sat, I'm less excited at the prospect of Kakko being a Flame. If you are unhappy about your situation or don't agree with the coach or GM, fine, bring it up privately. Don't go to the media. I guess its a bit better than having your agent do it for you, but still comes off as entitled to me.
Maybe i'm a bit old school but if you don't like your situation, try working on a solution with the coach internally, and if that doesn't work, quietly ask for a trade. The Flames did well to start removing the entitled jerks from this organization. Dont bring another one in.

I honestly didn't find anything wrong with what Kakko said publicly. He basically said he understood why it was him as he's the young guy , and that as a competitive person he didn't like it. Nothing wrong that. It wasn't some chastisement, just a simple expression of the facts and how he felt about them.

Well - he's not getting scratched because he's the "young guy" considering Laff, Cuylle, Chytil, Schneider and Edstrom have stayed in the lineup.
We are talking about a player with 6 years of NHL experience, too. I get he's probably frustrated, but he should be more accountable for his own play and keep all of that out of the media.

I think if you're Kakko you're probably frustrated too.
You've been in trade rumours pretty consistently the last 3 seasons.
The GM seems to have made that whole organization pretty toxic right now with scapegoating guys like Trouba, Kreider, and Kakko.
And now you are getting healthy scratched and not really being given a reason or any type of context of what you need to do differently to stay in the lineup.

I think its the not being told anything part that leads to "I'm the young guy" comments. He doesn't have the veteran clout (despite his service time) with the coach so he feels like he's an easier target.
Long story short he won't be a Ranger much longer I'm sure.

Yeah tough to pass judgement on the kid until the scope of the toxicity in the Rangers organization is better understood. They're no better off than Buffalo. And they supposed to be cup contenders whereas Buffalo is just trying to crawl out of no playoff hell.

The interesting part is it seems really self inflicted for them.
Rangers were 12-6-1 and 6-4-0 in the prior 10 games when Friedman / Drury made it known that the Rangers were looking to make big trades and move out Trouba, Kreider, and some others (Kakko, Lindgren, etc).
They've went 3-8-0 in the 11 games since that news leaked and have been the 2nd worst team in the NHL in that time (ahead of only Buffalo who are in a free fall with Dahlin being injured).
Not quite sure why the GM of a 12-6-1 team thought it was a good idea to feel like leaking news that he was shopping a bunch of players on his team. Including trading his captain for spare parts in that time.
And it's not like this is some team with a history of underachieving that Drury is looking to blow up.
21-22: 110 points - lost in conference finals to Tampa Bay
22-23: 107 points - lost in round 1 to New Jersey
23-24: 114 points - lost in conference finals to Florida
24-25: On pace for 108 points when he decided to blow it up.
I get why that locker room would be a bit like "What the #$## is going on here". They made the conference finals in 2/3 seasons, want to take the next step to win a cup, and your GM is trading away veterans for spare parts.

Yeah, when I heard Friedman call him a top 10 player, I knew some Canuck fans would repeat it. Do you agree with that? Off the top of my head, Mackinnon, Kucherov, Barkov, Kaprizov, Mcdavid, Draisaitl, Sid, Matthews, Panarin, Pasternak, Chucky, Huberdeau, Nylander, I could go on.

I am hearing BT has inquired today about the availability of Vladar or Cooley.

I heard Trees offered up a night of schooners at the local BPs sports bar with a coupon for 2 for 1 Boston brutes for Vladar.
I jest.
Stolarz is down for a while I guess. Makes sense tree is out kicking tires with family coupons.

Stolarz is out 4-6 weeks, so the Leafs want someone who can fill in.
