The Penticton tournament is probably not a great sample to use. It's pretty much a pickup game. No systems or coaching.

Just force him to watch tape of Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, and Adam Fox 24 hours a day. Those guys are still good offensively while also being able to defend at the NHL level with a smaller frame.

Fox isn't even that great of a skater.

Agreed. This is a weak US cohort. Barring disaster, Canada should make the final.

It was also the first time a lot of the players skated with each other. Can't imagine a lot of system talk early on. I think that is why the older teams clearly look better, especially early on.

The forwards in general seem like a total mess. But Dickinson-Parekh... yum.

I maintain that cristall-luchanko-sennecke would be the best forward line canada could ice and also the best at the tournament. Absolutely ridiculous that someone gave Dave Cameron a shot at this.

Sawyer Mynio has been added to replace Schaefer. Another defensive guy.

Would losing to Latvia constitute a disaster?
Wonder where Parekh was on the call up list?

HC deserves this. Their safety first approach in favour of the boring jack-of-all-trades over the exciting game breakers is just weird ... Parekh should be there, Wood should be there, Sennecke should be there. The fact that they lose a top defender in Schaefer and turn around and call up Mynio over Parekh and Yakemchuk again is nothing but hilarious.

Decision was made in camp. Mynio is on the registered taxi squad ahead of Parekh and Yakemchuk. Parekh was only in camp due to injury. Yakemchuk wasn't even at camp.

that's the part that doesn't make sense. Just Dave Cameron doing Dave Cameron things, I guess.

He's not. Mynio is the spare defenseman, Rekhopf is the spare forward

Luchenko is a modern day Paul Ranheim. Very fast with similar hands.

Maybe it's just me, but I actually don't like the look. Parekh isnt Phil Kessel. He's a junior player with a lot of deficiencies and holes in his game. I think rather than acknowledging those holes as a legitimate reason to be cut, he's throwing shade at the people who made the decision.
It's doesn't reflect the best attitude and comes across as a guy with a bit of an ego who maybe isn't the best at being receptive to criticism.
It's funny though.

It definitely has a Robbie Schremp feel to the comments. Like he pretty much had a free lane to a potential 9 game NHL tryout and bungled that at camp. Hopefully he gets better.

Nobody is saying that Parekh doesn't have holes that he needs to work on, but he was absolutely the best powerplay quarterback available for the team to select.
And they didn't select him. He didn't event get a camp invite before injuries.
It is purely politics. It is now made even funnier because Canada can't set up a powerplay to save their lives... Partially because they left players like Parekh and Yakemchuk off the team.
These kids are absolutely allowed to mock this result. Canada is getting what it deserves. Cameron is getting what he deserves.
It's absolutely hilarious.

What you say is accurate, but not entirely.
This year (for the first time) they are allowed up to 25 players on their roster. And they don't have 25 (either 22 or 23 currently, not sure which). If they wanted to, they could call up other players. Parekh for sure, because he was on the pre-tournament roster, not sure about Yakemchuk or Senneke.
So yes, Mynio was the spare, but they could have gone outside of that if they wanted. For instance, if they wanted a PP quarterback, they had one available.
