We were debating salary comparisons of their demands and whether Christmas being ruined was a hyperbolic statement. I don’t really see that as a defence of the Union’s actions, at the end of the day there are 2 parties involved in creating the dispute.
If only you held the posters continually making the false statements that I’m generally responding to to the same standard perhaps you’d earn a little credibility.
Edit: also, you can never have enough spiked eggnog
This might be one of the better rebuttals you’ve ever posted on here. If for no other reason than its neutral nature didn’t allow you to dig yourself into a deeper hole. Well done firebot, go ask for a raise.

Federal deficit balloons to $61.9B as government tables economic update on chaotic day in Ottawa
The federal government has blown past that benchmark; Monday's update posts a deficit of nearly $62 billion for last fiscal year.
|
Good lord. $62bn when it was supposed to be $40bn is pathetic. And how much value can you put into the $48bn projection for 2024-2025?

The government's long-anticipated fall economic statement, tabled Monday, also pledges $1.3 billion for a border security package over six years — part of Ottawa's plan to fend off U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's threat of steep tariffs — although the 270-page document doesn't explain exactly how that money will be spent.
|
Quote:
As expected, the document includes the government's promised GST holiday, which came into effect Saturday and is expected to cost $1.6 billion.
The document does not include the government's promise to send $250 cheques to working Canadians.
|
Quote:
The federal government says that's due to one-time costs, including $16.4 billion related to Indigenous claims playing out in court and $4.7 billion related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The document doesn't say which claims the government is paying out.

Until such time, we can judge him and the NDP leader on their leadership qualities as opposition leaders.
I will respectfully disagree about the carbon tax.

You sound like one of those people who assumed Trump would mellow once he got in. And are saying it again: "he won't really apply tariffs - that would be so dumb".

Liberal MP Wayne Long saying on CBC that he would classify one-third of Liberals MPs as asking the PM to step down immediately.
I don't see how Trudeau doesn't re-sign.

Had he meaningfully shifted some of his parties’ policies a year or two ago he probably would have gotten the support needed to get an early election.

Holy shyattie 61 billion,
they'll shuffle all the blame to Freeland.
The Trudeau truck blew over the guard rail tumbled down the cliff on fire hitting every rock and tree on the way down, before exploding in a lake full of sharks.

It could just as easily be a $40b miss by the time its actually all said and done.
Liberal voters must be so proud.
Maybe not call people racist when they question bad government policy?

It seems funny that you continue to bend over backwards to defend a guy who is currently and actively mismanaging things, due to concerns that the guy on the other team that you don’t like ‘might’ do those things when he is in power.
If PP is missing his fiscal guardrails so egregiously as is happening now, I have no doubt you will be justifiably raking him over the coals. But it is sad to watch anyone with such blatant partisanship unable to even be aware of their own double standard.

Well Trudeau certainly doesn't look like he's resigning. Rosemary Barton called the whole ceremony extremely odd.

16Billion in court losses is a insane number. I believe there is roughly 1.1 Million first nations peoples in Canada.
