Umm I don’t think the Flames went after Monny. Conroy comment that they hoped he would end up in Columbus to be with Johnny is what they hoped for.

We already have a Kadri, now we need younger Kadri back? Leave Benzo in Florida where he belongs

If things go poorly in Toronto this spring I can see Treliving using some of those Tavares/Larner funds to go after Bennett/Ekblad.

$8M for Bennet in free agency?
I don't think any GM is that dumb, and that's saying a lot.

Let me introduce you to Barry Trotz.
Free agency makes GM's do dumb things.

He's playing center on the 4 nations team and is having a pretty good season with 26 points in 30 games.
$8M is probably a bit high but I could see some team overpaying him to the tune of $7-$7.5M without it being too much of a stretch.

~8% of the salary cap for a #2 centre that brings what Bennett does? That's not bad, especially that given a 7 year contract takes him to what? 35? Ends at just the right time.

If we could somehow move kadris contract without retention and without giving up picks, I’d be open to bringing in Bennett

We need a new direction, not another try at the old direction.
No to Bennett. Under no circumstance.

LOL Pegula met with the Sabres and told them everything's fine, no one's getting fired, no big trades, the answers are in the room.

So you can try and do the same thing with Bennett in a few years?
Doesn’t fit the timeline at all

The contract doesn't end at the right time, it starts at the worst time.
Just say no to free agency until we have a team built up.
The vote of confidence for a last place team is hilarious. Hoping they can bounce back and overtake us in the standings.

Bennet will definitely get near $8M.

If the cap goes up higher, I can see him getting more. Plays a premium position, a rugged game.
If a broken Stamkos at 34 gets 8M a year, Bennett will get that and more.
It's why you stay away from free agency outside of trying to plug some holes.

They need to try to add to the core, not just try to shuffle deck chairs in like for like trades.
Their 1st, 2nd, Rosen, Ostlund, Kulich, etc... those are the pieces Buffalo should be looking to move to try to get either a top 6 forward or RH dman that helps them more immediately.

I dont know about that.
Just as a comparable (realizing SB is a C) Sam Reinhart on the same team the last 3 seasons averaged 88 pts per. He just signed for 8.6.
Bennett has averaged 49...and had injury issues all 3 of those years.

A goalie. They need a goalie.
These teams that are allowing bad tending to undermine their re-build boggle my mind.
