Problem with Kakko (forget about where he was drafted and focus on what he is now) is that he's more of the same for the Flames in that he's middle 6 player that lacks elite skills. I just think the Flames need to shoot for higher end talent if they are going to make a big move.

They should be trying their own guys in that spot (3RW) like Kerins but Kakko has size and the draft pedigree (yes, I agree we shouldn't focus on that but it is what it is) so if the cost is manageable its a chance I can see them taking.

Cost is the big one for me. For the right price I think he could be a good add. To be honest I haven't really followed him, and his draft positioning is a major reason I would try to see what is there.
Would rather use the trade capital to grab a young center, but if he can be had for a decent price, I would take that gamble. Especially if it was a 3rd.

He was pretty clear to state it was his own speculation.

Appreciate the clarification but I understand how he presented it and that changes nothing for me. He's done this in the past with teams naming captains among other things.
I also understand this doesn't mean its a done deal or imminent, just that he's probably going off of some inside info he has.

Wow- I hope the Canucks make that Friedman trade.
Anyone tried to guess what we would potentially send out for Kakko yet?

That would make a ton of sense for both teams.
Pettersen is a loser and deserves to play for Buffalo.

I think the Sam Bennett price is appropriate. So a 2nd and a prospect.
Jeremie Poirier+2nd.
I bet NYR is wanting a 1st, and they are being offered a 2nd.

I guess it depends on the price, but it would certainly be a lot lower pressure than his current status as 2nd overall pick for the Rangers. He wouldn't be expected to produce like a 2nd overall here because we weren't the ones who drafted him that high.
I can't imagine teams are offering much for Kakko at this point.

I was thinking potentially Kerins + something for Kakko alone, so right ballpark.
I was wondering if we could sell them Rasmus now that Trouba's gone. But they don't really have much that's appealing for him. Not sure if they'd send out Kakko and Othmann in a single move.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather just see what we have in Kerins at that point. Now if it was for a young centerman, then sure

Probably should just give Kerins a fair shot. What do we have to lose.

There's only room for one Elias Pettersen in Vancouver at a time.

Don’t mind if we spend assets on acquiring a young center. Big no to spending assets on a middle 6 winger.

I think Sam’s value was impacted by the expansion draft.
I’m not sure there are many comparables. Maybe Newhook or Dach?

Vancouver would be pretty dumb to trade Pettersen for that package. He’s a known commodity who has produced. The other two may have upside but haven’t done enough. If I were Buffalo I’d be pretty happy to get that skill in.
