I would take Deharnais. This defence needs some help.

Wait... i can't say that with a straight face.

Injury history is a huge concern with Chytil, but he’s still got untapped potential. I would take him, but I wouldn’t pay an arm and a leg.

In regards to sureLoss’ post, I have to say that I love Trent Frederic. He’s not in the proper age group for us though.

Decided to just dismantle a perenial contender 1/4 of the way through a season when they were comfortably in a playoff spot.

Bizarro.

I guess since they're the Rangers they feel like they can get away with it.

It's been swirling around for a while but that lockeroom is toxic as hell. Don't know who the culprits are but it's not a great place to be.

Like Philly with Carter and Richards, sometimes you just have to purge the room and start over.

James Dolan runs that team and he has very little patience, just another crazy American billionaire.

Hopefully Adam Fox is the main culprit in their dysfunction. Ef that jerk.

Presumably, the Bruins are not re-signing Frederic. I hope the Flames are on in the bidding when he’s a UFA this summer.

Jim Rutherford on After Hours said the Canucks need to add some top end talent. I wonder if we could see another Lindholm type trade. Kadri would be a really good fit there. I know we need centres but if Conroy could pry more pics and prospects off that team it would be great.

Calgary has a guy who just got off a 6 game point streak, set a record in the past for LW points, former 3OA pick.

Man with the Rangers stuff, it's starting to feel like maybe Kakko is a real possibility for Conroy. That'd be exciting.

I don't know much about Kakko but he's slow according to NHL Edge stats. What attributes does he have that makes up for that?

Is Kadri considered a "top end talent" at this stage of his career?.

He doesn't show it, at least not consistently, this year.

It sounds like Kakko played C briefly from Nov 17-29, while Chytil was out. However, he is back to the RW and remains basically, a left-handed RW. If that’s true, I think the Flames need to be wary of price. They need to maintain their chances of improving their centre ice position by keeping 1st round picks.

That said, I’m all for gambling on a young player if the Flames could send back a veteran winger and any non-1st round draft pick.

(Kakko is a 2019 draft pick with less than 0.5 PPG. I don’t think the Rangers can ask for a huge return at this point.)

Kakko is the Ranger's Bennett without the surliness or playoff performance, but slightly better numbers. Sounds like the thinking is, change of scenery and consistent minutes as a centre may result in better results for him.

If the price is as low as FLA paid for Benny than that would be worth the risk.

There was some talk in Kakko’s draft year that he could possibly play center in the NHL….

He's Below 50th percentile in every category measuring speed and bursts. He's very close to the 50th percentile in top speed but well below the 50th in the bursts if I'm reading it right.

Having both Zary and Kakko as centres with below-average speed would be problematic.

It's news to me that Zary is slow. Never thought that once while watching him play.

As for Kakko, he's a young player that rumors here say Conroy wants and is keeping the line open on so, I trust that Conroy has targetted him for a reason. I also did not know Kakko was slow. Although if I watched him more I'd also be surprised by that statement.
