Parekh seems like a smart kid. Hopefully he’ll learn that he needs to change and evolve his game, because what works against teenagers in junior isn’t going to work against pros. Play without the puck at 5 on 5 can’t be an afterthought.

I thought Parekh really struggled in battles with the bigger, heavier USports players in front of the net/in the corners, and he turned some pucks over. He needed to be one of the top D in camp to make the team after being a late invite and he just wasn’t at his best. His outlets were clean throughout camp, he scored Red’s second goal in the second scrimmage.

That's unfortunate for Parekh, the other guys that should have made it, and potentially the fans if this team underperforms.
Clearly management had a specific plan for how they wanted to build the roster this year, and I guess fair is fair, but it's also fair for me to think that their plan sucks!

I think after the youngstars tourney, training camp and now this if he hasn’t figured that out he’s got a bigger problem coming for him in a year or two.
He’s still young. It’ll click in at some point.

It's still really early and could mean a lot of things, including a bigger focus on his defensive game, but his PPG is down this season from last.

Obviously as fans, we love to see our prospects in the best prospect tournament on the planet.
However, sometimes getting cut from TC is the best thing that can happen to a kid. Playing against their peers, these kids are all stars and have had basically everything go their way for most of their lives. Getting cut from TC can often be a huge wake-up call for them, and often we see those kids really push hard in the 2nd half of the year, to 'prove everyone wrong.
I am willing to bet that Parekh goes into beast mode after the holidays.
For those who are concerned about his defensive game, and his strength, he is still 18 years old for a couple more months. And he has been the best player on the ice, almost every game he's played. He is a very intelligent and erudite kid, and he is very motivated. He will figure it out, and he will work on the things he needs to work on.
I never like to see teenage defensemen in the NHL, even when they're talented enough to do so - it's just too physically demanding for a kid. I would be more than happy to see him continue to work on things in junior, and play on TC next year, before ever seeing him go pro.
He'll be here soon enough - patience is always a good thing, with prospects.

It is, but it is closing.
Last year was 1.45 PPG, where he was singularly focused on being that guy.
This year, he is working on other things, but none the less, after a slow start, he is now up to 1.36. I willing willing to bet that he has a strong 2nd half and finishes higher than last year's 1.45.

In addition to the above (out of thanks), another poster pointed out that Saginaw has seen a high amount of turnover from last year, with a number of vets moving on, so Parekh doesn’t have the same support as he had last season, and has less talent around him.

True dat. Misa leads the team in points by 19, while Parekh leads the D on the team in scoring by an unbelievable 20 points!

From what I saw in Penticton he has some maturing to do. Both physically and mentally.

Can’t argue too hard of Parehk not making the team this year. He will be a lock for next year. But how can Canada not include Sennecke, Cristall or even invite Misa. I was physically in Sweden last year watching the tournament and Canada was far and away the least skill of the contending countries, and by a wide margin. Every other country brings their horses and we try to create a grinder line on big ice…… it’s a complete joke. I’m expecting a similar result in this tournament as last year.

I still don't buy it, he might not be top pair but he is still top 7 and should be on the roster.

That is correct I was mistaken, my argument still stands though. Canada is not going to do well in this tourney.
