so 4 spots for Allen, Akey, Gibson, Molendyk, Mynio, Parekh, Price
So gotta be top 4 out of 7. He's in tough, but imo it would be smart to take him as a 7 for his offensive upside. Even if the other 6 play most games, at least they have an option then to jumpstart the offense in case they start the tournament slow

Gibson, Moendyk and Mynio were scratched for game 2. Probably means they made the team...

He made the team last year but then got injured in one of the pre-tournament games and didn't play.
No chance they cut him this year.
|
Forgot about Molendyk last year. Makes sense then to take him.
If Gibson Molendyk Mynio are in, then I guess Parekh needs to be the best out of 4 haha. Dont like the odds..

The Juniors are the Canadian equivalent of a major NCAA tournament. Lots of people want to see this stuff. You think it'd be a little more easily accessible.

A potential game breaker.

As long as he can play within the system his coach has implemented for the team.
Coaches, especially in these short tourneys, require guys they can trust not to wander to far outside the lines he lays down. Rightly or wrongly.
Parekh is a cerebral guy so he should be able to adjust, but if not i would understand not bringing him along regardless of offensive prowess.

Mark Masters says most if not all cuts will likely take place this evening. Currently have 33 players in camp including 10 D. They will carry 25 in the tournament, 14 forwards, 8 D, 3 goalies.

How did Parekh look the rest of the game?

Nothing spectacular. Made a decent play under pressure on the PP to hold the zone that led to a goal, but didn't get an assist on the play.
I think he only had one five on five shift in the 3rd.

Yes, because figuring out that 20th guy, who is going to play 6-8 minutes a game is far more important than determining what you've got in the top 6 and how they are (or aren't) meshing together.
Also, who cares about getting the regulars familiar with the style of play that you want them to commit to - they're good players, they'll figure it out when the games start to mean something. Right?

They probably should spend more time figuring out the bottom end of the roster TBH.
They still have 2 1/2 weeks of practice, and 3 pre-tournament games after the team has been named to get the line combinations and the players playing the right way once the team is actually named.

Wood cut after being on the team last year.
Sennecke cut as well

Let it put a chip on his shoulder. I remember when they Benched Makar ( who is maybe the best defenseman ever) and boy did he ever show them wrong.

Hard to show anything when you get almost no playing time.
Not even worth showing up, waste of the poor kids time (including Sennecke)
Joke.
I’ll add: The last minute invites almost feel like they were done because of the media pressure flabbergasted at the 4 kids left off the invite list originally. So they invite them last minute, give basically negative playing time and then cut them anyway.
Hockey Canada is way too political than it should be. These events are for best on best and that won’t be the case this year.

Big yikes cutting all three of Sennecke, Parekh and Cristall.
That's a ton of offensive talent to leave at home.
