News Roundup
Flames Takeaways: Gritty, selfless effort snaps road losing skid
The Calgary Flames are coming home for Christmas, and they’re not bringing with them any of the nasty streaks they left town with.
A 4-3 win in Nashville snapped an eight-game road losing skid and marked the first time in a franchise-record 25 games they scored more than three goals.
And they did it with the sort of gritty effort they can be proud of, allowing the lads to fly back from Music City with a little bounce in their steps.
Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson could be big-time trade targets for the Stars
The Dallas Stars have started the season 17-10-0, and recently announced forward Tyler Seguin would be out for at least four-to-six months due to requiring hip surgery. Seguin earns $9.8 million AAV against the salary cap, so it begs the question about how Stars’ GM Jim Nill will get creative with his newfound financial flexibility.
Where Flames goalie Wolf ranks among Calder Trophy candidates
Despite hitting a bit of a rough patch as of late, Wolf has still put together a superb rookie season, posting a 2.84 goals against average (GAA) along with a .909 save percentage (SV%) through 14 starts. He’s also accounted for eight of the Flames’ 13 wins thus far.
FlamesNation Mailbag: Waking up below the cutline
For the past five weeks, the Calgary Flames have woken up every day and been able to say one thing: they were in a playoff spot. After Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Stars, the Flames have slid below the Western Conference cutline and are, for the first time since Oct. 30, on the outside looking in.

Cheering for a full 60 min effort where whichever goalie doesn’t get abandoned late in the game. Would love to see Huberdeau continue his offensive production and drag a few more goals out of this roster. Go Flames!

I dont know. I think seeing as we're likely about to face more rubber than an airfield during the collapse of Saigon you might as well toss Vladar in there to get shelled.

give Vladar the majority of the starts now, and prep him for a trade.
Then there will be plenty of season left for Wolf to get the majority of games in the back half.
Perfect situation, IMO, let's Wolf acclimatize to the NHL at a comfortable pace - there is no hurry here, so let's develop him patiently.

Uhhh....yes, I'm like 90% on board with you there, but...I think there is still good reason to have a veteran partner. So far I think its been going well.
I think Huska has been fairly prudent in his application of the goalies thus far. As a fan do I want more Wolf? Of course! Is that wise at this stage? I dont know.

Well, Lomberg is coming back in for sure. So only 2 of Kuzmenko, Pelletier and Duehr are dressing. And Duehr has been terrific.
I don't mind Kuzmenko and Pelletier rotating for a bit - keep a fire under both their asses.

I hope not. This team needs a nice 10 game losing skid.
