If true, this is fixable. Just make him room with Lomberg and staple Pospisil to his line to drag him into the fight. Problem solved

Sounds like je needs some lessons from a yoked Slovak

Maybe the issue is he thought he needed to fight to earn respect in the NHL. He doesn’t. I’m fine with top-six forwards who never drop the gloves. Michael Backlund has had one fighting major in 17 seasons.

I think the Sabres would expect more than Sharangovich for Cozens. I think the Flames should be all over Cozens if he's available as it's not often that young centers of his skill become available in a trade. I think he has more upside than Mercer who we know the Flames coveted.

Yeah I was always a little leery about signing the guy to a big money contract, for sure.
Question is ... will he rebound or is the team in a systemic sinkhole that won't recover?
He's 5th on the team in xGF60, and with a bunch of players around 5% in on ice shooting percentage five on five (he's averaged 11% in his career).
I'd suggest he's do for a heater but then so are a half dozen players.
I don't see him as lazy though. Just nothing is working, and he's not shooting the puck ... shots/60 is cut in half vs averages.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Flames just extended Sharangovich. What team has done that? Traded the guy they just signed to a new contract?
As for Kuzmenko, wait for him to go on one of his streaks and get what you can at that time.

You are probably right, but don't underestimate the value to the Sabres of having someone locked into a contract. It isn't easy to attract players to the Sabres, and this will be seen as an asset IMO

I think the Sabres would be asking for Zary and a pick. Cozens has a ton of upside in my opinion. A deal built around Pospisil and the NJ 1st would perhaps work, not too sure.

What's the rebound? He's been a poor nhl player more than he's been a good one. Even after 40 goals in Vancouver they jettisoned him as soon as possible

Colby Cohen (a cohort of Jeff Marek’s ?) threw out the names Rasmus Andersson and Nazem Kadri as two players the Dallas Stars might be interested in, now that Seguin is out. Both names make sense for the Stars, although I’m not sure Kadri would want to leave here unless it’s for Toronto.

Yeah, really depends on if Kadri wants to be on a contender or not. Andersson would be a great fit for them

Still think we see Coleman to Dallas.

Coleman to Dallas is my bet too. Better contract than Kadri (and younger than him too), responsible player, playoff warrior, and hometown boy. And I bet Calgary could squeak out a good return for him.

I don't love the idea of packaging Andersson and Kadri together, think it would really water down our return. We really have no incentive to get rid of Kadri, he is not a boat anchor to the Flames by any means at this point. I just suspect we would have to retain on him to get any meaningful value.

He's streaky as hell but he's the 40th most productive NHL forward over the last three years five on five.
I was talking about an offensive rebound specifically, which seems likely.
Sounds like you're talking about discovering his inner Patrice Bergeron, which I would agree is unlikely.

I think that someone could pay something like a 4th for Kuzmenko, but not until deadline day. IMO there will be a contender who thinks he can add powerplay/ straight offense to their mid lineup for a playoff push.

Jeff was guesting on Colby's morning show with DFO.
Colby fills in for Frank on DFO live often, but I don't believe that Colby is regular co host of The Sheet.

If Dallas won’t part with Bourque, Bichsel or Stankoven as they claim, then there’s not much of interest in their system. I like D Tristan Bertucci a lot, but not as the centerpiece of a trade involving Kadri or Andersson. I hope we’re hunting bigger game.
RW Emil Hemming would be a good name, but he doesn’t fill an organizational need for us, and he’s struggling to put up numbers in the OHL.

Yep, agreed.
Bourque's been parked on the 4th line most of the season though I think... maybe they don't see him as a top 6 (or even top 9) player for them & could be convinced to let him go for the right price?
Feels like a guy who could pop off if given the chance though.

Two that come to mind are Jeff Carter when he was traded from Philly to Columbus and Mike Bunting signed a long term deal with the Hurricanes and was traded in his first season in the Guentzel deal

It seems whenever I read about Flames players being involved in trade rumors Kadri’s name always seems to be in the mix. Have to wonder if he has quietly asked out? Andersson still seems like the most logical trade piece but I suppose if the Flames can get out of the Kadri deal and extract some value that makes sense. I don’t agree with retaining on him for 4 more seasons however
