Yeah statements like that make me laugh. I’m absolutely positive the CEO would gladly cut 900K jobs if it gave him a 15% salary bump.

They are completely unnecessary. What healthcare do they deliver? What do they do, that would still need to be done in a system where corporations don't need to be the middle men? What you should be asking is "what great things could we do with all this money that is being eaten by rent takers?" These jobs shouldn't exist in the first place.

I don't really disagree. It would be messy to completely dismantle private insurance overnight.
Progressives did get all worked up about Pete Buttigieg being loosely associated with BCBS eliminating those middle man jobs.

It's definitely not something that can be dismantled over night. In Canada, we are startling pharmacare with a couple drugs, and expanding form there. Not gonna pretend the system is fixed, but you gotta start somewhere. For the US, it would make sense to keep expanding the government systems they have until they cover everyone.

That's always been my biggest beef with the "Labour" left. Effectively they transfer wealth away from society in general to those with inefficient union jobs. For many years I detested the NDP because of it.

The big difference is lobbyists and the money that is in US politics. The Democrats raised a billion dollars. Even if they had won the election, are they stepping on anyone's toes? There is no starting point.
Kaiser Permanente donated 1.8 mill! Blue cross 0.8 mill!

Depends on your philosophy. Some individuals don't want to change this system, they are happy with buying all healthcare getting to the front of the line. "I DESERVE IT!" More profits the better for everyone. The US is a federal capitalism experiment, states rights, very little government intervention. The Democrats are trying more government but not too much, lobbyists would go to the other side.
Americans are different, instead of asking how the pie will be split, just make more pie.

Well this is nonsense.
If you cant summarily execute health insurance executives then who can you summarily execute other than the Russian Royal Family? Obviously. Those guys are just walking target practice!
But other than them!

So there were actually some Canadians that wanted this mentally unwell moron to win the election, eh? 80 years old, going on 10.
Quote:
President-elect Donald Trump took a jab at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday, calling him a "governor" and referring to Canada as a "great state" — another suggestion by the incoming president that this country should be part of the United States.
Trump apparently joked about Canada becoming the 51st state during his dinner with Trudeau at Mar-a-Lago last month. In an interview with NBC News on Sunday, Trump said that if the U.S. is going to run up lopsided trade deficits with Canada, it might as well become a state.
"It was a pleasure to have dinner the other night with Governor Justin Trudeau of the Great State of Canada. I look forward to seeing the Governor again soon so that we may continue our in depth talks on Tariffs and Trade, the results of which will be truly spectacular for all!" Trump said in a social media post.

I dunno, the Liberals are going to lose in a landslide the next election anyways. Just have to hope Pierre doesn't kiss Trump's ring too quickly and eagerly.
Handling Trump has been on of the few things Trudeau has done ok. Just shut his yap and didn't get into a war of words last time, and placed tariffs on the U.S. where it hurt them.
There's just not much we can do if the leader of our (supposed) closest ally is mentally unwell and doesn't care about.......anything, except his own image and wallet. Just have to try to minimize the damage until his term runs out or he chokes on a cheeseburger or something.

Outside Alberta (which, hilariously, is where Trump has his highest approval in all of North America, not just Murica), most of Canada still despises Trump, and he's obviously not going to be improving that any time soon. Poilievre has a bit of a tightrope to walk between his natural desire to get on his knees and worship his orange God and the fact the more he does so will hurt his chances to win. Worth remembering a minority is a disaster for the CPC, they'd probably prefer to lose outright so they can get another run at Trudeau.

This is a few things:
1. Trump disdains Trudeau and his style. Its really saying he doesn’t respect Trudeau, not so much Canada
2. He wants us to increase military funding for which he knows Trudeau is fake about. He’s likely sick of Trudeau showing up to talk then not doing anything when he gets home.
We can call Trump stupid, but he’s far from it. He knows what he wants. A serious partner to the North who will align with him and not play games.
I have said for years pick a lane, its this guy or China. We should be strong again IMO and if Trump can force that issue great. So much wasted promise last 10 years due to fake woke preening.
Again, not a Trump supporter but Trudeau deserves this bullying.

Pierre is gonna swallow Trumps dong long and hard.
He won't be able to get enough of it.

Not only is he stupid, he's extremely stupid. He's just a massive bully with a big gun in his hand and the extreme stupidity to use it even if it kills his own country too.

America or China is supposed to be an easy choice, but Trump keeps making harder. The more we can shift towards CANZUK+EU+Japan etc. the better.
