I encountered a guy who did that once. I was still in my seat and I broke his fall. So falling down the stairs is simple, just fall into the seats!

Sure there are a lot, there's way more than code requires. But 'Are there a lot of washrooms'? isn't the proper question. The only question that matters is: Are there enough? And the answer to that based on the building's primary use is absolutely not. How they managed to get fewer in than the previous design is upsetting on it's own, but having fewer than Rogers Place is all we really need to know about the washroom situation.
Well, there are a lot of washrooms. It isn’t just about how many individual stalls and urinals there are (of which we can’t definitively say right now), but the actual spread of washrooms throughout the facility, of which there are a ton.

There may still be lines, but there will be more of them and they will be a lot shorter. Rogers Place has 14 washrooms (not including club or restricted access) split between the main and upper concourse, while Scotia Place has 24.

Is 24 a ton? Is 24 a lot? Or is it just more than we are used to? The current newest building in the league, UBS Arena, has over 50 washrooms.

So it comes back to the relevant question. Is 24 enough? Is 24 good?

More, shorter lines is definitely better than fewer, longer lines

But yes, that is only one variable. 'Enough' is the fundamental question.

Between the main concourse and upper concourse, UBS Arena has 25 washrooms.

Suggestions for the away dressing rooms:
  • Massive storage island in the middle of the room obstructing guys paths and vision to across the room
  • Install a dodgy thermostat that stays on high so it feels like an elderly woman's stuffy living room in there
  • Paint the entire room in the same tone of yellow used in the Blasty logo
  • Some type of motion activated projection system on the floor that displays the away teams logo wherever each individual steps

You’d think a facility for those with urinary or bowel syndromes would have more washrooms.

I slipped on beer and fell down 5 or 6 steps during G2 of the BoA in 2022 ... in front of a couple of Coiler fans. Wasn't fun and 100% do not recommend. Had a nice bruise and scab for weeks.

Well ####, that's what I get for just reading the press clippings rather than look at the maps. Why talking about the number of washrooms without context isn't helpful.

But I'd argue that saying the building has 24 washrooms is also disingenuous, as what a washroom is doesn't really have a standard. I don't think the two Flex Washrooms on the upper concourse with six toilets between them will have a significant effect on the dedicated men's washroom lines that have 18 urinals and 9 toilets each despite increasing the number of washrooms available to men by 100%.

Rogers Place and Scotia Place both have 8 washrooms on the main concourse, FWIW. Which is less than the Saddledome.

That’s because the Saddledome only has one actual concourse

But I don’t know if we can say what effect the flex washrooms will or won’t have. That’s around 15% of the capacity of one of those men’s washrooms. Would you think it’s better to increase capacity of the men’s washrooms by 15% instead of just moving that capacity elsewhere? I don’t necessarily.

And FWIW, I don’t know how you arrived at your numbers and I don’t know if we can judge the numbers just based on what’s here, but someone else said they counted 343 stalls/urinals on the concourse levels. That’s 21 more than Rogers Place when they were having their issues. And all they did was cram more urinals and sinks into the same washrooms.

I definitely don’t look at this and see an obvious, looming problem right now.

But trying to build flex-bathrooms or unisex with toilets instead of banks and banks of urinals is stupid. The urinal takes up much less space (therefore you can fit more urinals than toilets in the same space), expedites the bathroom process for men and allows the men to jump back into the beer line quicker, making money for the arena/owner.

I'm not even a big beer drinker at events (I always drive), but this to me just seems like common sense. It expedites the process. The best arenas and stadiums I've been to have mass-urinal access.

I’d add in a motion activated/timed air horn or compressed air gun
