That reminds me, I need to stop by my office and pickup my cheque, since Canada Post won't be sending it.

It’s all good though, I’m sure Azure will be by any minute now to provide statistics that support his position that enough people are waiting for paycheques in the mail that it was worth bringing up in the first place.
He’s probably just busy compiling a list of all of the Union’s current demands which he’s clearly privy to and claims are “ridiculous”. That way no one can criticize his original statement as being too vague or unfounded to be worth even putting out there in the first place either.

Yeah, they're great, especially now that they can be deposited remotely.
If I've got a big account, I love being paid by cheque. Why? Because VISA, MC or whoever else who did jack all don't get a cut for my work.
And...I dont actually have to drive to some dumb brick-and-mortar nonsense building and deal with the dumbest human they could find to put behind a desk to accomplish the simplest task humanly fathomable.
Look here. Here is cheque. Here is account number. Put 'A' into 'B.' Can you handle that? Oh you need to call your manager? Can he figure that out?
I didnt realize we were engaging in Rocket Science here.

Locke have you ever considered that the tellers may just be instinctively trying to make your life unnecessarily more frustrating so they can have a good laugh at your expense after you exit the bank?

Heard on the radio that some remote northern communities will be struggling because Canada Post is the only delivery method, no other couriers.
Which can be a pain because they rely on it for medicine deliveries as well.
Some usefulness for Canada Post being the only delivery method. Hopefully they are continuing deliveries during the strike, but not what I thought I heard (on radio while driving).

Yes. A significant one actually. Almost 12% over 4 years.
That is not and never has been what this dispute is really about though.

The big one is:
CP wants to eliminate a bunch of full time positions that include pensions and benefits and replace them with extra part time positions that do not require those expenses.
Money was a small part of it and was pretty much addressed about 2 days after the strike was called. though the union ask is still a bit more.
There are other things, many actually, some bigger but most minor, that would require understanding how everything works internally to make sense.

That’s the previous offer that was rejected, I don’t believe they’ve moved since then. At least not publicly. 12% over 4 years is pretty low offer in my opinion.

Money is definitely an issue in this but as you mentioned in your other post a major sticking point is the flexibility for the company to employ part time instead of full time so that they can provide more weekend coverage without paying overtime. Or at least that’s my understanding based on what I’ve heard. But if that’s accurate then it’s obviously a monetary issue as well because people will lose overtime.
If I had to guess, right now both sides probably realize that there is going to be some change in that regard. The business will struggle moving forward if they can’t provide steady 7 days a week delivery service. But if they expect the union to agree to reduce the current number of full time positions(I’m just basing that on your post, haven’t heard much about that) to accommodate that then this will probably go on for a while or until they are legislated back to work.
To me this seems like a case where a bump in the raise being offered to say 16-20% over 4 years in exchange for the flexibility of having a small fixed percentage of part time workers to cover weekends without a reduction from the current number of full time positions gets this done.
There’s a lot of other options they could potentially look at, like going from scheduling 5 8 hour shifts to 4x10s or 3x12s to reduce both overtime and the need to have more part time jobs instead of full time. But I don’t know how practical those options would be for that business specifically and if they haven’t discussed it yet they’re probably way too late in the game to even consider that now.

Apparently the union slashed their wage demands to 19% over four years.

In the one CBC video It noted that over the last 4 years inflation had averaged around 4% per year. So between 12 and 19 is the number.
Now Canada Post is losing a lot of money and I don't know if their work force is highly skilled that the workers are irreplaceable. Weekend delivery and how to do that is a sticking point. Canada post wants part timers doing it as a side hustle, union wants it to use its work force with benefits and pensions.
I read another artical about how the private carriers can't take up all of the demand that there is right now for package delivery. But if they had say 12 more months...maybe. But unlike Canada Post there is no obligation to cover all area's of the country.

I can’t believe that the government hasn’t put through back to work legislation or forced binding arbitration.

How's our unemployment doing?
Fire them all and replace them.
Someone can be taught to wear shorts, drive a van and place letters in a box in about 4 minutes. Its not rocket science.

AI could also post on CP as many times a day as Locke, but then some of those posts would actually be funny.
