It is what it is. If the Flames don’t get great goaltending, then they lose. The team can’t score enough.

At the end of the day I think they’ll be in line for a top-10 pick, which was likely the plan at the start of the season. They had a great start, but reality is setting in.

When you ice a team that has 5 guys under 25 (all but one playing big minutes and including two rookies- one being your goalie) bad nights can happen. Especially when the team needs to score by committee.

Wow, wake up to take a look at the PGT from last night and only 5 posts in it 12 hours after the game ended?

Yeah. I saw that one going downhill and checked out.

Thing is, this is more or less how I saw the season going, everything early on was pure gravy...but now we're in the slop.

They actually played a pretty strong game for about 45 minutes, and then it fell apart in about 3 minutes. This is a team that should be bottom third of the league but has been playing above their heads so far. Having one game fall apart, on the road, to one of the best teams in the league, doesn't seem like something to get too worried about, IMO.

They were even carrying the play in the third until the one breakdown (and then the dam burst).

Correct, Calgary actually outplayed Dallas in the game, and were let down by randomness and a soft game by Wolf.

It happens, and Calgary has had its share of good bounces this year and great goaltending.

But not last night.

It had its ebbs and flows. Dallas was outplaying Calgary early in the game, after the quickie goal by Huberdeau.

Overall there were some pluses. A better game by Kuzmenko. Coronato continues to look good, and Zary was really good. Huberdeau continued good play and Pospisil looked good (Kadri kind of let the line down).

I thought Kadri's giveaway was the turning point.

It was disgustingly lazy, and as soon as I saw him with one hand on the stick, I knew he was turning it over. When it went in, it seemed to deflate the team.

It looked bad, especially when he had so much time at first. The puck seemed to be behind him so he was reaching back with one hand, and just couldn't get it- I think the ice was bad along those boards if I had to guess. At some point he should have given up on moving it smartly and just banged it out or eaten it, if the puck was sort of stuck.

But the reason he couldn't get it was BECAUSE he reached back with one hand. Every player knows, you have to get the puck out. He should have stopped, used 2 hands, and made sure. He didn't. Had nothing to do with the ice conditions.

I guess. He was trying to not stop skating - I think he figured the puck would come to him. I don't know, but it sure looked like something was up along those boards.

Don't get me wrong - he misplayed that plus a couple other good drives were snuffed out by him. That one led to a goal, so magnified.

There is always snow along the boards, except at the beginning of the period. He used one hand, when he should have used 2 and made sure. Pretty cut and dried case.

This is ridiculous

He’s running a breakout route, to use two hands he has to be facing the opposite direction

Maybe the puck skipped, it happens many times a game

Fact is Johnson skated right though Andersson and Bahl
