Trump the pacifist isn't one of the bad things about the guy. The West has been trying to tell that region what to do my whole life. Let them figure it out and find their own balance. Its likely the best long term solution.
If that's how it all ends, you best hope you are incinerated in the immediate blast radius in a nanosecond. Surving nuclear war is very likely a fate worse than death.

Trump isn't a pacifist. Don't kid yourself. He's ignorant of foreign affairs so withdraws from discussions/engagements rather than read and learn. Numerous times during his first term he was willing to use nuclear weapons to solve problems, only be to be talked off the ledge by his advisors. If the West backs away from the region what do you think happens as a result of the political vacuum? I would suggest you will see Russia and China step in and make things worse. Can you imagine what would happen to Israel if the West withdrew? With Israel in the mix and there being an ocean of black gold under the region, the Middle East will always be a point of interest for the West.
I wouldn't say that he's ignorant of foreign affairs, he just wants to run everything like a business negotiation. He wants American to lead on their terms.
Like one of the first things he did in 2017 was withdraw from TTP. Why is America in this trade agreement where the Asians call the shots, he says? It's not like he was blowing something popular up anyways, its was panned across the political spectrum. Trump's strategy, let's withdraw, and bring the Asians to the table on our terms to renegotiate. The Asians have invited China and Biden is not interested.
He then goes to the middle east, it's up to you guys to fight terrorism, not us. We're going to ban people from coming to the US until you do. He goes to NATO, you guys aren't paying your fair share, we're going to leave if you continue.
He withdraws from the Paris climate accord. Why are we shooting ourselves in the foot when other countries aren't, he says? They need to be put on the hook for emissions reductions. He's going to withdraw from the agreement again.
He puts together the QUAD, US, Japan, Australia, India, against China.
Withdrawl from Iran nuclear agreement
Meeting Kim, meeting Putin, meeting the Taliban.
There's a lot there. He mostly thinks America has made bad deals and puts pressures on countries to restructure them. Like threatening tariffs on Canada and Mexico. He'll probably get what he wants and will probably reduce them.

This is the thing that I find really strange.
He sucks.
If I were dealing with Drumpf, I'd leave the room and tell his staff to contact me when he gets serious.
Bluff and bluster? I'm gone. Thats not 'business negotiations' thats nonsense.

Agreed. I'd much prefer if we in the west would just let soverign nations determine their own future without any interference and behind the scenes regime change. Stop telling other countries how they need to govern and be more like us.

Isn't it preventative though? We're not in a vacuum.
If we don't, Russia or China will.

I believe their motivations have nothing to do with those countries' people and everything to do with western interest only.
Russia, like the west, has shown in their past that they are interested in invasions and expansion of their territory. China has not, other than the month-long Sino-Vietnamese war in 1979 when China occupied Vietnam briefly.

A business negotiation? Bull####. He tries to bully his way through things because of his ignorance of how and why things have been done in the past. You don't enter into business negotiations by insulting the other party and telling them they have nothing to offer.

And how did that turn out? Trump didn't understand the deal and ####ed it up. Now we have a trade war on our hands. Ahhh, but to the dip#### set, that's just good negotiation.

And he didn't understand either issue or why things were the way they were. All he did was over-turn the apple cart and embolden Russia to inject themselves in Syria and Ukraine.

And how is that playing out? The US falls further and further behind in the technology race to take on the challenges addressed through the accord. The US could have been a world leader, instead China is the leader and kicking the United States' ass in the marketplace for all new green technologies. That's how you become an also-ran nation.

Trump had nothing to do with the QUAD. That was all Japan and Abe's baby. Abe actually used the policy from the Obama administration to frame the restart of the QUAD in 2017.

How did that play out again? Didn't understand the agreement or what it did. Iran kick started their nuclear program again and have become the most influential player in the Middle East (good and bad). Obviously knew what he was doing. 5D chess playing there.

Emboldening all of them and giving them credence where they had little before. Trump only wanted to be accepted by the authoritarian "tough guy" set so he could flex like he was a tough guy. Too bad he proved to be a ##### and the others just took advantage of his stupidity. Didn't understand why this collective were international pariahs but has no problem cozying up to them.

He doesn't understand these deals. He barely understood the businesses he bankrupted six times, but now he's going to be an expert on international affairs and diplomatic deals? Give your head a shake. All he's going to do is more damage to relations between our allies and hurt the American economy as it is forced into isolation.

That was a different China, not the road-and-belt initiative one. China isn't expanding using soldiers, they're expanding using money.

Remember that marine that got into it with I think, a homeless person on the NYC subway, ended up putting the guy in a rear naked choke and killing him? He was acquitted today.
Edit to add that I'm unsure how Penney got away fully acquitted, but the above article also doesn't contain many details on the case. I'm not sure vigilantism should go unpunished.

Everyone knows that he's just the sidekick of the most ethnically stereotyped duo of all time.
The real criminal is Mario Mangione! Unfortunately it is unclear which Castle he inhabits as there exist a series of pipes he uses to move to and fro...

Guy had a tragic life:
Quote:
Neely, 30, was a sometime subway performer with a tragic life story: His mother was killed and stuffed in a suitcase when he was a teenager.
As a younger man, Neely did Michael Jackson tributes — complete with moonwalks — on the city’s streets and subways. But Neely also struggled with mental illness after losing his mother, whose boyfriend was convicted of murdering her.
He subsequently was diagnosed with depression and schizophrenia, was repeatedly hospitalized, and used the synthetic cannabinoid K2 and realized it negatively affected his thinking and behavior, according to medical records seen at the trial. The drug was in his system when he died.
Daniel strangled him until he was dead. I get the fear and need for action, but at some point, you know, he wasn't a threat anymore. That point was long before "dead".

The defense found a credible pathologist who was able to create reasonable doubt that the choke hold used was excessive or unreasonable force. I'm obviously not a doctor or qualified to argue about it one way or another.
