This somehow doesn't feel remotely like anything to do with Star Trek:
What are you talking about? There was a Vulcan! And they said the word Starfleet!
I know different tastes for different generations, and I know there were all sorts of issues with earlier Trek, and things like Transformers, but it makes me sad that a generation is raised thinking Discovery and Bayverse Transformers are things to get excited about.
They took the worst executed part of a terrible series in Discovery, and the worst character in the show, and made it into what looks like an atrocious Parody.
Yeah, hard pass.

Just in terms of Lower Decks, I like how they went almost back to the beginning of the series. One of the things that dulled it a bit was they went away from the narrative that the Bridge crew were a bunch of arrogant slightly incompetant officers who took credit for what the people on the lower decks did.
They got away from that. But it was nice to revisit that the Bridge Crew beyond being a bunch of weirdo's aren't the reason why that ship sorta works.

I refuse to even watch that small snippet of what is almost certainly going to be the death blow to the Star Trek franchise, until it's rebooted by the up and coming cool sci fi director du jour of the mid 2030s.
BUT
Lower Decks- Upper Decks was hilarious. Died at the Cordry Rocks stabilizing the energy flow to the view screen. The engineer in general is hilarious. And the captain having to sit through all the terrible crew performances had me rolling. Also the one before it was hilarious. "I want this to be my Picard Probe moment!!" "#### I need to learn the flute!"

Yeah, the last couple episodes have been a lot of fun!
Damn you! Damn you all to hell for whoever is ending Lower Decks! This is some of the most fun Star Trek we've had in ages!!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
So I guess the studio decided that because there are “fans” of Discovery, we really need to lean into the massive violence, in an environment (Sec 31) that shouldn’t exist, and definitely ensure that we get as much screen time for officer Tilly and Michelle Yoh as we can. Because the chubby insecure officer who would have washed out of the Academy on day one, and a psychopathic mass murderer are great characters to anchor your Trek show around!
It’s garbage, it looks like garbage, and I’m ashamed of myself for having watched any garbage Discovery at any point. Because I’m sure an executive pointed at the viewership numbers and said “look at all the Trekies who LOVE this!!!”
I read a lot about toxic fandom. How about toxic creators who the fans are just reacting rationally to?
I think it's some sort of trek-sadism, going back to naming JJ, a star wars fan who actively disliked star trek and all existing lore, the scion of the nu-trek generation.

I still remember the worst piece of god awful writing in that whole series came in the Mirror Universe story line.
When George left and they were sitting around and toasting this mass murdering, Kelpin (whatever) eating sadist as a bad ass who did it her way. I'm like "WTELF, they're literally toasting Hitler as a bad ass."

Saru was annoying as ####, I would eat his kind too.
Oh God...I watched one episode...I think I've told this story before, but my wife went to High School with one of the actors on Discovery so we really gave it a try.
There was one episode...there were flowers or some nonsense like that and Saru was doing or some crap and the he dies and the flowers save him or something? I dont remember. It just sucked.
I remember angrily walking out of the room.

Star Trek Into Darkness is Wrath of Khan compared to Discovery.

See...I dont get the hate for Into Darkness. I mean, it was derivative, not really creative but it was still a bit of fun.
STD? That is torture.
The thing about STD really, for me, isnt that it just 'isn't Star Trek' its that it isn't 'anything.' It just all around sucks. The fact that they called it 'Star Trek' just meant that they had to jump around and try and make it something that it wasnt.
Which doesnt really matter much because if they just called it something else? It'd still suck. Because it sucks. Its bad. It is genuinely bad and it should feel bad about being so bad.
