Who Vaakanainen? Yeah he is. 2nd round pick of Boston back in the day I believe (the round he was selected, I know he was.drafted by Boston). Had some hopes of a top 4 career but he's kind of plateau as a tweener.

They wanted the Cap space, and waiving gets around his ntc

That 8m gets eaten up by Shesterkin now doesn't it. Rangers still don't have room to add.

It feels like things are about to get a little bit hairy for the Rags over the next couple years.

Had to look up the player going back (Vaakaianen or however it’s spelled). Defenseman, 25 years old with 143 games and 1 goal (24 assists) and 40 PIM on a 1.1 mil contract for 1 year.

18th overall in 2017 according to PuckPedia. Mostly minors up until last year where he played 68 games. All of this also from PuckPedia. I had never heard of him before today.

Probably easier for his wife to find a position in southern Cali with her rare specialization.

Kind of a tough situation in CLB to get traded into as well IMO. I probably wouldn't all things considered.

Sounds like there must be some dressing room drama. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the TSN article. Sounded pretty disrespectful for a guy you named captain of your team.

True but will she be able to transfer her residency there or wait until she completes it before joining him in LA?

The market for his visual artistry is probably higher in California, too!

Or the Captain, is one of the issues in the dressing and a change was needed.
Should be interesting, if the Rangers make any more trades
After Trouba is moved to the Ducks

Sounds like the deal is done, with Trouba to the Ducks,
Ducks send Urho Vaakanainen and a 4th and Ducks took full salary

Vaakanainen was originally part of the Hampus Lindholm trade.

sucks to have this cheapshot artist in the division.
will be interesting to see the Rangers' next moves. They have to re-sign Shesterkin, but this also allows them to add short term. Panarin is 33, clock is ticking.

the Ducks will retain salary, and flip Trouba at the deadline. That is where they get their payoff

With a year left to go next year at $8M. Lots of luck with that.
