We need more homes! Let private sector invest! Just not like that apparently. Brutal.

It was all downhill for that area when McDonald's pulled their nautical theme.

You can really tell how affluent the area is. Double meat for everyone down there?

Slava is passed out somewhere because all the blood in his body has congregated in his dink. Like an inflatable pilot from the movie Airplane.

Yeah but there's a rapid bus route there now, so they're all basically homeless people.

So glad to see that all my CP friends are so pleased for me!
The truth is, this was a dumb idea and a dumb project from the start. I have no idea how it didn't go through, because I just assumed it was a done deal, but this is good news.

The BRT has become a running joke in this part of the city. Transit uses the jumbo size buses and you never see more than 3 or 4 people on them. I don’t know how they came up with their ridership projections, but they were woefully, comically wrong.

Honestly it seemed too big for that location. But smaller doesnt maximize profits now does it.

Hmm if only there were some sort of build next to it that would increase ridership...

Or could they build these things next to existing transit lines? Places like Heritage and Macleod, Firepark, Anderson, etc. The residents there would be better served to have a C-Train there as opposed to a bus stop.
Its hilarious to me that the justification to add ~3000 people to that location was that there is a bus stop.

It's funny how there's a year long fight to allow land owners to intensify their single residential property and a year long fight to prevent commercial land owners from intensifying their property.
We'd all agree that there should be really well thought out and super dense TOD development around most of the C-Train stations but it appears nearly all of those land holders don't want to invest in doing so.
Until we can find a way to force them to develop, or take away their land and give it to someone who is willing to, we might just have to approve some upzoning proposals next to bus stops.

Well that and a quick drive west to hit the ring road, a 5 minute drive or 15 minute bus to an LRT station, a super quick commute to the hospital and heritage park, direct bus route to Mount Royal and the west side of downtown, close to jobs at Southcentre mall and Macleod trail. But hey, better keep that density down.

That is a big part of the issue. Densification is necessary, but most of the developments put forward are huge, 10+ story projects. I don’t know what the barriers are to moderate densification - 2 and 3 story apartment complexes with 60-100 units of the kind that are common in Europe. But if we could crack that problem, it would be a lot easier to get buy-in for new developments.

Because there's no infrastructure and no way to improve it. It looks good on paper, and then when you look at the actual site and current traffic situation, you realize that adding 300 people and those vehicles there is a complete mess.
