I suspect we see a few replacements for this novelty tournament. I doubt many guys with even minor injuries risk their seasons to win whatever this is cup

Nah, it's still an indictment because we could have kept him instead of acquiring guys like Bean, Hanley, and Barrie to fill out the bottom of the roster. At least they made up for it by claiming Pachal off waivers, but that was Conroy and not Treliving, so yeah, #### Tre.

Bratt and Raymond are having great seasons. Bratt continues to be underrated. I actually really like their group of forwards

His chances would improve if he could play wing better - lots of teams load up on centres and play them at wing - but he's never been very good at that switch.

10/10 times for an elimination tournament you take Bennett over Hyman. He has a lot more dimensions to hos game than tapping in mcdavid saucers.

There's only 7 Finnish D in the NHL who've played more than 5 games this season, and he's one. That's how thin they are. And he's tied in points with a guy in Anaheim who's played 5 games
Note - they left off the one other guy who has played regularly (Jokiharju) to list Hakaanpaa who is a veteran.

I agree that Backlund has never looked great on the wing. But a defensive line with Backlund at center and Lindholm on the wing would look pretty good.

Hyman can probably get his parents to pay his way on to the roster.
I mean they bought his way through hockey.

I'd take Backlund right now over both Zibanejad and Lindholm without thinking twice. Those two guys have been a disaster this year (and even longer than that for Lindholm)

Hyman has 8 points playing big minutes. It's ridiculous.

That team looks like an absolute nightmare to play against.
How many games are they gonna play? Max 6, 7?
You don’t have time to throw a bunch of all stars together and hope they develop timing.
Marchand, Crosby and MacKinnon have insane chemistry.
McDavid with the highest-IQ sniper in the league, and a guy to go get pucks for them.
Hagel-Point-Marner sees Brayden Point and Mitch Marner on the third line. And Brandon Hagel is a top-30 player in my fantasy league, with cup experience.
Bennett-Cirelli-Stone on small ice with nowhere to hide, in a short tournament, might not be on the ice for a goal against.
As for the blue line.
The best Defenseman in the world plays with his everyday partner. Obviously.
The two-time cup winning D and member of the 14 and 16 teams plays with his cup winning partner.
Morrissey was the answer Nathan MacKinnon gave when asked who he would’ve drafted first overall if not himself. He plays with another Stanley Cup winning D with the ability to punish players physically and keep the net clear.
Jordan Binnington is a championship goalie.
Aiden Hill is a championship goalie.
Montembault plays for the Habs.
In a short sprint like this, you want guys you can rely on, who you trust, who you have seen in high leverage situations, who will do their jobs.
In this sense, the only true head scratcher is Montembeault. They should’ve brought Fleury as the 3rd goalie for all he’ll play - I can’t remember the last time Canada actually played three goalies at a best on best international tournament. It would have to be a Canada Cup.
Of the skaters, only Morrissey and Sanheim don’t have rings.
You don’t need everyone trying to win the game themselves - this team is going to almost always have the puck. Just play smart hockey, and it’ll work itself out.
Now that I’ve said all this, my godlike ability to reverse uno reality will doubtless see us finish fourth, but that’s my assessment.

Bennett already eliminated Hyman once.
Hilarious how the idiot Edmonton fans and media think we should just take all the Oilers bums because they get propped up by McDigIn.

The most 2 teams will play is 4 games.
Round robin and the top 2 teams play each other for the ultimate prize. The 4 nations cup lmao

I wasn’t sure if they were doing a playoff in the final or whatever.
But cool, four games.
Even less Margin for error. All the more reason you go conservative on the lineups.
They really should make this a regular thing - just have the top-4 teams from the previous Olympics participate moving forward. Build some tradition.

I doubt Fleury would have been interested in the pressbox.

Heh-heh, yep.
This is a dumb, useless, made-up tournament that nobody cares about and doesn’t matter.
Also:
How could they take Sanheim as a third-pairing guy and leave Dougie Hamilton off the team? THAT IS LITERALLY INSANE!!!

Those guys all make way less then he was making...guy is a borderline NHLer and not the one who got away. There are far bigger fish to fry when it comes to knocking Tre and his moves.

I'm still mad that Glenn Sather took Randy Gregg and Charlie Huddy over Scott Stevens in the 1984 Canada Cup.
