Look...its been a bit but I can understand if "slit their throats and #### down their necks' is not particularly favourably looked upon as 'constructive criticism.'

I didn't know they were banning rainbow flags, that's just ridiculous. I'm completely fine with crosswalks being neutral, they should be left alone and stay a standard with anything traffic related.
The biggest problem is that this story will gain international attention and Alberta will be labelled because of it when in reality.
"1,145 votes were cast in the plebiscite, with 653 in favour of the proposed bylaw and 492 opposed to it."
So 1100 people in a remote northern town with barely over half of that vote for the change get to dictate Alberta to the world.

I hate to be the rain cloud here but this IS who Alberta is. This isn't just one small town, it's the second one, and there will be more. If this wasn't Alberta, our premier, who has no qualms meddling in anything she views as wrong, has not only allowed it, but just passed 3 anti-trans measures. Our Catholic(gag) school board, supported by many posters on this forum, does stuff like this:
Quote:
ATA president Jason Schilling said teachers have recently told him that the division’s superintendent has directed them to get rid of all Pride-related flags and material in their classrooms, report if students disclose to them that they are part of the 2SLGBTQ+ community so parents can be told, and report if they overhear students talking about possibly being in a same-sex relationship.
“That’s concerning because students have charter rights. They have the right to privacy. They should have the right to have a conversation with friends in the hallway and not worry about being outed by the school,” Schilling said.

No, I'm sorry, but this is exactly who we are, and if you feel shame the rest of the world is seeing that, well, maybe people should speak up more and stop accepting hate as a byproduct of tax cut promises(coming soon, I'm sure). Stop ticking that "Separate School Support" box on your taxes, an stop sending your kids to hate factories. Stop going to churches that don't even allow a women to be in charge. Stop voting for the UCP and other Conservative politicians who are guided by their "strong values", because clearly their values are contaminated with feces. There are ways to not have the world view us as bigots, and it starts by rejecting bigotry, not being upset they see us for who we are.

But why? What does painting a crosswalk do that affects traffic? We seem to be fine having giant billboards that blaze brighter than the light of 1,000 suns in our face, so it can't be for safety? If anything having a painted crosswalk would make it easier for drivers to see.
So if it doesn't affect your day-to-day life, why take away the small amount of joy and Pride others feel by seeing it?

Just to be clear, the ban is for all flags other than the three levels of government. So for example they are also removing a Royal Canadian Legion flag and a Treaty 6 flag from Town property.

So the UCP's anti-trans and sexual miseducation nonsense passed debate and is headed towards law.

The one thing we can’t have is crosswalks being even more visible. Nobody else in the world dares mess with two single white lines and neither should WE!

Because its part of traffic and any changes to a standard should be questioned. Do the whole sidewalk, do private parking lots, just leave roads alone period.

It's fine to say that changes to road markings be "questioned". But then to say the standard can't be deviated from goes farther than that - it defies and rationality between questioning and denying. And it brings Charter issues into play.

Here’s a little good news for a change. He tried to stop potentially life-saving vaccines because he thought they might cause girls to have sex.
