I met him in my work elevator once. I did find him to be fairly stiff, but was genuinely warm and friendly. He's a policy wonk, not a drama teacher. Something politics aside we are sorely needing in this country when it comes to things like housing and immigration.
"he's a drama teacher"
- the guy who is totally setting politics aside
Nice hair, though?

As a brother and father, I get it. That said, Hunter got himself in this mess. He was due to be sentenced before Trump was in office (December). So that means Joe would have been worried of further charges. Which Hunter was either guilty of, or not-guilty but due to the Justice department being influenceable by the president would see him convicted.
Think about that statement. Its basically saying Hunter gets off for criminal acts cause ol' pop thinks he's a good kid -and/or- the Justice Department is crooked and works for the president.
From a strictly political (again not court of law) lens this just sewered Dems with the general (non-hyper partisan) populace
All you've managed to do here is deflect from the actual problem here. That Trump and his incoming government have left Biden, and so many others with the unavoidable conclusion that they can no longer depend on the rule of law to be applied in a fair manner. You see that, right?

I think this was another one of Trumps bluffs.
I think the only reason they wanted Hunter was to get to Joe...since they have nothing on Joe. With Joe now gone and Trump et al in power there is no reason to pile on Hunter.

Riiiight. Trump:
Quote:
According to a review by NPR, Trump has issued more than 100 threats to prosecute or generally punish his perceived adversaries since he began organizing his campaign in 2022.
You are correct in that there is no reason. You are incorrect in assuming he isn't going to do everything he can to exact revenge on anyone he deems an enemy. The dude lives for this stuff.

All talk and posturing. Did Trump go after Hilary et al after he won?
He can revenge maybe on still influential people who could threaten him. Hunter is a nobody other than Joe's son.
Trump and Biden aren't exactly personal enemies either.

Eh, it was maybe more talk and posturing the first time. But there were actually some people trying to keep him restrained. If you've read anything about some of the cultists he's nominating this time, if they do get some of those roles, then it'll be close to free reign. Now will he actually do it? Who knows? But he is striving to have, unlike last time, almost no barriers.

Trump was a blustering idiot in his first term. I don’t think he knew he had the tools to exact revenge. It’s a little different this time, I think. More idiotic, but he knows what weapons he possesses and what he can get away with.

By trying to have Mrs. Clinton prosecuted, Mr. Trump was following through on a campaign promise. At rallies, he often stood on stage denouncing her as crowds chanted, “Lock her up!”
“This reeks of a typical practice in authoritarian regimes where whoever attains power, they don’t just take over power peacefully, but they punish and jail their opponents,” said Matthew Dallek, a political historian and professor at George Washington University.
Trump is also a lazy pig who never follows through on anything that he says, half of what spews forth from his swine mouth is made up on the spot, he's so full of ####.
One thing that makes me happy, someday hopefully in the near future I'll get to enjoy the day when he craps himself in some hospital bed and croaks. He'll go down in history to be one of the biggest scam artist, charlatans in the history of politics. The only sad part will be how bad that reflects in Americans for voting him in.

We can't sit here and say Hunter was in some definitive danger of further prosecution or some other form of retribution and prior experience with Hillary and "deep state actors" tells us that.
...and before you all hit me with "Trump, etc. has said he'll go after all the people that he feels wronged him or are deep state or whatever" blah blah blah...really think that through. Everyone on this board, a portion of media and most of the country thinks or knows Trump is a compulsive liar...a vast majority of the things that come out of his mouth are lies. Therefore we should think that when he says stuff we don't like he's telling the truth? My earlier point still stands...the show is the most important thing.

He will probably give up a few days in when he sees the work required. He didn't even know he had to hire a staff last time around and complained that he couldn't inherit Obama's team lol.

The Daily Show put together a great series of clips on the Democrats thoughts on the legal system, Biden and Parsons.
