No Tavares or Rielly. What a shame.

I guess they had to pick McDavid but I fear he will continue to not win anything team related.

I don't think Weegar has been as good as last year, but still solid.

Honest question....out of Weegar, Pareyko (R), and Sanheim (L), who would you rather have on bottom pairing?

I've been wondering the same thing. Feels like a media driven all-star game replacement. Something manufactured to give McDavid something to pad his Hall of Fame resume. "Well he never won the Stanley Cup, but he did win the Four Nations Cup!"

Does anyone care about World Cup in 1996, 2004, and 2016? Does anyone remember anything about those tournaments? This feels like an inferior version of that. I wish the entire Oilers team was playing, so they don't get any rest during the break.

Was some of my favourite hockey I have watched in a very long time. It was a great tournie. I'm sure this one will suck compared to it.

I take Weegar 12/10 times over Pareyko, it’s not even close.
Pareykos been a pilon for the last 4 years…

Don't follow the Flyers much, but read this about Sanheim today:

Quote:
He’s got 15 points in 25 games, which is great and all, but more than that, he’s everything Team Canada would want in a bottom-pair guy. He’s playing over 25 minutes per game, totalling over 100 more minutes than the next-busiest Flyer. He leads them in PK ice time by a wide margin. He’s six-foot-four and 222 pounds. He’s playing top competition and driving play effectively compared to his teammates.

Given all the question marks after about four D on Canada, he makes sense.

Not yet but I would bet it is better than ours. They are going to have an advantage on defence and especially goaltending. Hopefully we can overcome that.

Probably Sanheim. But Weegar’s value is he can play either side comfortably. Which is a huge asset as a #7 dman (which is the role I assumed he would fill, not bottom-pairing).

I feel doubtful this team can hang with the projected US roster. Especially when comparing the bottom 6 forwards and goaltending.

That under 23 NA team was awesome. It's too bad they thought they could win in OT against SWE in the last game of the group stage. They didn't even pull the goalie if I remember correctly.

Team Europe was also a fun underdog story, but I wanted either Sweden or NA playing Canada for gold.

Why? I care about the Calgary Flames first and foremost. Canada will be fine without him.

Hopefully he gets a nice relaxing Tropical vacation instead.

Don't really like Canada's roster. Too many guys who are 5-10 years past their prime, too much TB favoritism from Jon Cooper obviously, and too much trying to overthink it by picking grit over talent for 3rd and 4th line roles
