I read something a few days ago about a citizen being detained for writing a poem where he longed for the reunification of the North and South which is apparently not allowed in South Korea. It was on social media so not sure how true it was. I messaged my friend in Seoul to see what she has to say, but it's 1AM over there so won't hear back until tomorrow.
My friend in Seoul messaged back last night... her thoughts:
- she voted for the current President
- she is not a supporter of the other party (Democratic Party), says that party supports Kim Jung Un (current leader of North Korea)
- brought up the current doctor strike over there which has been ongoing for about 6 months or so
- despite voting for the current President, she thinks he's a dumbass for thinking this martial law thing would work
- she tells me it feels like the current President has been steadily been losing popularity ever since he came into office... even then, she will never support the other party based on her own values
