You must have been the top of your class in school. Great observation! What currency do they get paid in Europe where I spend part of the year? Calgary Flames branded hockey pucks.?

USD is USD and not much else needs to be said.

So you don’t carry 100 Euro in your wallet while in Calgary and agree nobody needs to do so?

You've never been randomly knocked out cold and woken up in rural Estonia? Gotta be prepared man. You'll regret not having that on you when you find yourself in a jam like that.

Having both a dollar sign (instead of €) and the word 'Euro' expressed for the same denomination of currency really GMG.

And good luck with those screen shots at the airport.
I think those screen shots are to prove to the credit card companies or whoever later what happened if it there's a problem, not that you should have a seat but booking didn't go through. I too print off itinerary stuff and confirmations, just in case phone has issue and is damaged or somehow info deleted etc. Kids play on my phone at times, so I won't leave that possibility off the list.

I too keep a random $100 on hand. It's supposed to be enough for a taxi ride and a bit of food in case wallet is stolen or cards locked up etc. I've had cards locked up on vacation before before their travel scanning programs stopped being as stupid. Usually it can be resolved in around 15-20 minutes, but I've experienced it being longer before. I'd usually just use another card and be OK, but if I was in a rush and it was a POS system down issue, completing the transaction in cash and then resolving it while rushing to the next location is preferrable.

Re-read post about having EUR and USD on hand for out of country travel.

There is a reason why every airport and a lot of central business districts have FX currency booths.

I read it perfectly the first time. Did you read mine? Do you agree or disagree?

Disagree. You've clearly never been in a Swiss Chalet when the POS machines are being POSs. Have you seen what it's like when forty seventy year olds are scrambling to pay their bill and they can't make change for a hundred euro?

One glazed donut per bald eagle.

Americans use glazed donuts per bald eagle as a customary unit of time. If a glazed donut has 260 kilocalories and a bald eagle has 18.755 Watts of power, one glazed donut/bald eagle approximately equals 15-16 hours, which is about how long it feels when stuck behind a septuagenarian trying to find change for literally any amount of currency.

I keep extra cash for the countries I go to somewhat regularly in my house. Not a lot, generally whatever was leftover from my last trip. So far I've never had to leave the country without going home first, so that system has worked ok for me. I also don't carry my passport with me around Calgary, or a suitcase with clothes/toiletries.

We're not all members of Seal Team 6 where we need an instant go-bag.

Does the forum not auto-resize images anymore when posted? It's super annoying to try to post a photo and have it basically destroy a thread by being unusably gigantic.

It never did. You have to set that up on where er you’re hosting the image. 640x480 is probably the best. Just put spoilers or nsfw tags around it if you cant resize.
