I don't exactly think Duehr and Pelletier are the answer. But may as well bring some new bodies in and have players compete for ice time.

They definitely aren’t the answer on their own, but I do think the answer is in the approach and that’s starting to give some of these young guys a chance to show you what they have and begin to make long term decisions on both veterans and some of the players on the Wranglers who are a bit older like Duehr, Pelletier, Solyvov and even Kerins, who will be 23 by the time the next camp comes around.

Something is better than nothing

Looks like Cooley can do the job and he is 27, not a baby

"Something is better than nothing" is exactly how Zary and Pospisil started out last season and are now permanent NHL'ers.

What does that have to do with Vladar?

Who's talking about Vladar? No one. This relates to Pelts, Duehr, and Cooley, and others being talked about.

I read an article over the weekend (can't remember which publication) that discussed the Flames and Josh Norris from the Senators. Signed for another 6 yrs @ $7.95MM and seems to be often injured. I like the player in general, likely a 2nd line center long term upside I would speculate. Has there been any chatter about Norris outside of this article? What would a trade with the Sens look like? Assume they would be looking for defensive help with Zub being out?

The Wedgewood return was pretty low and it probably takes one of the teams (Colorado) that needed to acquire a goaltender out of the market - at least for now. Colorado may find that Westwood is not the answer and they may try someone else like Vladar if that’s the case.

What other teams seem like they could really use some goaltending help? Possibly Carolina because of injuries. Struggle to think of anyone else who needs to improve their goaltending that either (a) is already committed to their two goaltenders (eg. Boston) or (b) is a rebuilding team that is not motivated to improve their goaltending (eg. Montreal) or (c) is not Edmonton

32 year old goalie with a .87 sv % this season doesnt change the market for Vladar IMO. Colorado will probably be right back in the saddle after a few disappointing starts.

Vladar is proving why he's going to land us at least a 2nd. His play has been great.

Seems to be some people who would rather this thread read:
"2025 - Confirmed trades and hard facts only"

rather than what its supposed to be;
"2024/2025 Trade Rumours and speculation"

If you don't want to talk all things speculation I suppose maybe we need to create a locked thread for those of us interested in talking all things trades and rumours that users can opt into?

Very quick for some to get quite upset at any sort of speculative information.

It’s long been a problem for some people who don’t understand what words mean.

Some people have always had a problem with insiders reporting discussions they’ve heard, and only want what Friedman does - which is break news like 30 seconds before the team announces the trade, not report on rumours.

I dont understand when people get mad at ANY level of discussion in here. If you dont like it, no ones forcing you to click on the thread. Let the rest of us enjoy the conversations and bits of info we get from people like Royle, Sec, Diss, etc

99% of the times over the 8 years I've been here this thread has been hot garbage video game level speculation. But this last year and a bit, this thread has been really good at setting the tone for how the season will unfold.

It's honestly never been better.

Pretty hard when you put in quotations a post that was talking about Vladar .

It’s ok to make a mistake on a message board and admit it .
