Walking through the yard at work I heard one of the young guys running up behind me. I knew he would try to tip my hard hat over my eyes. At the last second I turned in a crouch and caught his thighs on my shoulder. His own momentum catapulted him up and into the trash bin. There was a foot of rubber shavings in the bottom so he wasn’t hurt.

I really wanted to do it again but no one would run up behind me. Fun time.

After reading some of these posts I think I'll up the gym regimen a bit now too, I'm starting to believe that whole "a body in motion stays in motion" proverb that a lot of active seniors espouse

Hell my hangovers are even better now than they were in my 30's, I'm much more aware of keeping my hydration levels up during booze nights so a single Advil after waking up usually sets me right pretty quickly

I can attest too that "a body in motion stays in motion" and moreso in reference to fitness and mobility rather than obesity. Came to that realization in my very early 40's and it's held true. Despite a few hospital visits along the way.

Time to turn on the potty humor. Meaning get the chocolate chips out and leave a trail. Enough other potty humor on social media you can inflict upon the kid and the family to great enjoyment.

was looking at some amazing Euro backpacking trips with small groups. Turned out I wasn't allowed because I'd "aged out" and the groups were capped at age 35.

I suspect that's cos they only wanted partyers and assumed over age 35 couldn't hack the hostels and schlepping backpacks around for a few weeks. It was a sad day indeed.

Yeah that kind of ageism is a bit sh***y, I feel you.

Do they think we morph into grandpas at 35 with arthritic joints and dangerously low bone mass?

For me it is moving houses. After I moved into my current house by myself because everyone happened to have plans that day I just said never again. If we ever move again I am hiring professional movers.

At age 66 I can no longer do knee bends. If I'm on knees to get something off the bottom shelf in a grocery store, I have to grab onto something to get myself up

Ah eating is a good one. I have gallbladder issues and have had a few attacks to date (the absolute worst pain I've ever been in) so I've really got to watch my fatty food intake.

Do you dip the bacon in the gravy, fold it over, dip it again and then melt cheese over it?

Asking for a friend...

I think 40's is the age where you can no longer get away with bad habits.
If you exercise, sleep & eat healthy; it's not old at all and you can pretty much do anything.

If you have unhealthy habits, the decline will happen quickly.
So I guess to answer the original question; can no longer get away with unhealthy habits.

Lol wasn't there a topless hair salon in Calgary at one point? I haven't needed a haircut in a looong time but a topless scalp massage?!

Also just a reminder since this seems to be the appropriate age group thread to get your shingles vaccine if you're at the 50 year old level.

I kept putting mine off and then when I had surgery the stress triggered it and you do NOT want shingles. It's terrible. Way worse than gout.

This thread sure makes you appreciate the things you still have. I can still crush the spiciest chicken wings without issue. I'm in OK physical shape but should take it up a notch or two.

Also makes me wonder who the oldest bloke on the site is. Dion at 66?

I think there was a thread from a few years back that asked what age people were? It was overwhelmingly people who were 30 or 40 IRRC.

I'm married and ugly and christ chicks are desperate.
