I'm just hoping they give him top 6 and some PP1 time. Make it or break it kid.

If the rumoured asking price of Vladar is a 2nd round pick, I could see the final acquisition cost being either a 3rd round pick or a 4th + low-level prospect. The Wedgewood return was pretty low and it probably takes one of the teams (Colorado) that needed to acquire a goaltender out of the market - at least for now. Colorado may find that Westwood is not the answer and they may try someone else like Vladar if that’s the case.
What other teams seem like they could really use some goaltending help? Possibly Carolina because of injuries. Struggle to think of anyone else who needs to improve their goaltending that either (a) is already committed to their two goaltenders (eg. Boston) or (b) is a rebuilding team that is not motivated to improve their goaltending (eg. Montreal) or (c) is not Edmonton

I’m cheering for Duehr to make some kind of impact. If he’s in the Flames’ lineup, he’s one of the biggest and fastest forwards on the team.

Yeah, he has speed all right. He had a nice run two seasons ago but fell off the map.

It's utilization and systems. Sutter is a expert north south crash and bang wingers that's what deuhr is

I don't think Huska discourages that style of play - the 4th line plays that way almost exclusively.

I don't necessarily disagree but those type of players aka donnovan Dwight king etc just play well under suttercfor whatever reason. Motivation dunno
Zadorov said it in one of his interviews Sutter smart coach told him details on positioning etc

The problem with Duehr is he has to play at 110% energy to be successful. Easy to do that over 20 games. Impossible to do it over 82.

You're probably right, and just to play devil's advocate - I thought the same about Hathaway, and Lomberg, both players managed to carve up decent NHL careers for themselves.
I also gave up on Bennett for much the same reasons. A bit of an apples to oranges comparison in this case, but I think Duehr can become a big part of a pretty good 4th line.

Some players don’t mesh with certain coaches, and vice versa. We saw it reflected recently in the David Jiricek situation. It just happens, and I think that’s the situation with Duehr- he might not necessarily be able to play 18 minutes per night in the top-6, but I think he would thrive playing bottom-6 minutes for the right coach.

Not sure it was coaching as 4th liners play a pretty simple and direct game plan.
I just think his confidence was shot.
If his scoring ways in the AHL boosted said confidence he may look a lot more like year one Duehr and less like year two.

I think Duehr's role is a fairly simple one - effort, create contact, defensively responsible... I can't imagine it is a systems issue between Sutter and Huska. He got married in the off-season between Sutter and Huska, so maybe something changed there? Maybe it was his extension? Maybe a lack of confidence when things looked easy for him that one year, and then suddenly things got hard?
At any rate, the best example I can think of is Hathaway. In his first two years here, he was inconsistent as heck. Put in a solid game or two, and then be completely invisible for the next 5 before getting sent back down. That last year he was with the Flames he managed to put together a very consistent effort for the season and never looked back.
Hopefully Duehr can do this - I agree with Sandman that if he puts in a good half-season, he might be worth something at the deadline. Teams really like to add sandpaper/speed type of guys who can help with depth scoring.
I would send Klapka back to the Wranglers too. He seems to be getting worse being out of the lineup for so long. Next year he needs waivers, so let's just let him cook down there, and bring him back up towards the end of the season for a solid 10 game run or so. If the Flames want to keep him up for the rest of the season, he needs to play regularly.
If Pelletier does get called up, I hope he manages to find his game up here. I am not as down on his potential as many posters seem to be. I just see him more of a project that can be a good middle-six guy who is also a glue-guy that helps keep the team's spirits high.

It does look like Carolina could use some goaltending help due to injuries. Problem is that I’m not sure if there are many more teams in the goalie market to drive up the price. If Carolina is the only team looking to buy now that Colorado got Wedgewood, I’m not sure that’s enough demand to get what Conroy’s rumoured asking price is for Vladar.

Two years ago Duehr was a player looking to get a place in the NHL and would have had survival like motivation. He got a contract extension and didn't seem to have the same motivation last year. He's had a good start in the AHL and has earned himself another look. I think we see the really motivated version. For a guy like Duehr one more contract like his last one will make a huge impact on his life. So this is his opportunity to get that next deal. So he should be motivated to bring thst energy.

You're selling him short as you could say this about every single 4th liner in the NHL, or any player who needs to play fast and with energy.
I'd like to see him back with the big club, they could use his speed.
