I'd do that in a heartbeat.
Rangers are currently getting dominated by PHI this afternoon (outshot 18-4, down 2-0).
Show me a reactionary trade!
IF they are in fact trading Trouba in a separate trade at some point, Andersson could be an impact player for them going forward - especially considering their cap constraints and who they need to pay this coming summer.
Andersson is definitely worth more than Kakko alone though.
3-way magic?
To BUF: Trouba, Pospisil, NYR 2025 1st
To CGY: Cozens, Kakko
To NYR: Andersson

And if the Rangers are desperate for success right now, it might be a good buy low opportunity. They'd have to add for Andersson for sure.

There's quite a number of teams calling on Kakko for the same reasons, I do wonder if Pospisil + a 2nd gets it done.

Seems like fair value.
But I could see a team like Anaheim offering zegras 1 for 1, and the Rangers being more interested in that.

With their looming cap crunch, I feel like Pospisil is such a good fit. $1M this year, $1M next year? That's solid value. Kakko hitting RFA this coming Summer, and in need of a change? NYR can then also leverage that 2nd rounder to better themselves elsewhere.

Is there anyone in the Flames organization who is likely to be a good 1st line forward 5+ years from now?

Slam dunk? No.
Zary and Coronato have a chance though.

That would be a huge coup for the Rangers in my opinion.

Kakko is having a better year than Pospisil. If they are going to move Kakko I would guess that it would be to improve their roster now. I would think it would have to be a bigger deal around Andersson. Especially if they are looking to move Trouba.

Pospisil is a completely different type of player but since I like it probably means it’s too tilted towards the Flames.

I get that, but different doesn't always mean better. I don't think Pospisil makes them a better team, so I am not sure why they would make that trade.

I would go for it. I like Pospisil but he plays like a candle in the wind.

Pospisil does so much beyond the scoresheet, and affects the game in such a positive way that I could see him being a player of interest for a number of teams, not just the Rangers. Does he get you Kakko? No idea....

Yeah, there are times that Pospisil causing distractions leads to momentum shifts, possession changes, and scoring chances or goals but it doesn't show up on the scoresheet. But he does take dumb penalties sometimes, although he has been better lately.
I think the Flames would need to add just because of Kaako having possible upside potential. Personally, I would add more than a 2nd rounder though.

I'm actually referring to Pospisil's advanced stats. I'm not sure what they look like in the last little while, but his numbers last year showed that he really tilted the ice for us. Our win/loss record was affected by his presence in the lineup, as well.
Not to mention, his speed was clocked earlier this year on a radar gun as being the fastest on the team...

Oh I'd love if CGY did Pops and a 2nd for Kakko. That's a nice top 9 RW mix with Coronato and Kuznemko for now and Sharkbait after.

I don't read fancy stats but my eyeball test tells me he's much less effective this season than last season. All over the ice and the stats. It's almost like he's been neutered a bit since those terrible penalties early in the year cost him some minutes and trust with the coach.

I would agree, and that's why I felt the need to disclaim that I wasn't sure about the last little while. I doubt he's getting the kind of TOI this season that he got last year. I still think he has value though.
