Servalli says it will cost a 2nd round pick for the Avs to get Vladar out of Calgary
Johnston on TSN says while Columbus originally wanted a similar young player for Jiricek they have moved on to considering draft pick packages

That would be a great trade for Calgary. They get their replacement for Andersson, and a young centre.

I think teams, generally, are loathe to give up one young asset for another that is considerably older, let alone two.
I’d bet Columbus would want some age equivalent player or pick(s) coming back.
Edit: seeing sureloss’s post above now…

Got to think even if CBJ were interested that they would be on Rasmus’ 6 team no trade list, eh?
I hope the best offer comes from an eastern contender in a warm place. Maybe Contoy can add a condition for extension or re-sign. He’s been a great Flame and I want good things for him if Andersson leaves.

Yeah, I'd value Andersson at a 15ish pick and second or two. So really just comes down to where they value Jiricek and Sillinger. I don't follow prospects closely enough to know if this a Dach/Drouin situation where Jireck has really slid. Sillinger seems like he is having an okay career.

I mean today Andersson is the better player, so I'd say value seems pretty close from a Flames perspective. With that said I think Columbus would want some additional value, maybe a pick or prospect, but then that to me feels like too much.
I like the idea of the trade, but I'm not sure Andersson waives to go to Columbus as he wants to compete for a cup and now. If he didn't want to rebuild in Calgary he surely isn't going to want to head to Columbus.

I can think of a reason or two to go to CLB for Razz. Monny for one. In memory of Johnny for two. That Flames group was extremely tight knit.
Anyways, don't think Andersons going anywhere any time soon so long as they're in a playoff spot. They get into a rut and who knows what can happen.

With no 1st or 3rd rounder in 2025, I can't imagine they are too eager to trade their 2025 2nd rounder unless they really think they should go all in this season.

Oddly enough, the Flames already own Colorado's 2nd in 2025 as well. May as well send that NYR 2nd to us for Vladar, i'm in.
Or maybe Carolina bites.

Conroy’s M.O. is reportedly, to clearly communicate his price and execute the trade if someone meets it. No messing around. It seems Conroy has clearly communicated his price. Meanwhile, Carolina has all its 2nd rounders and is looking for a goalie. Calgary and Carolina seem like a match…
Trade! Trade! Trade!

Pretty much this. I get cp posters dreaming of our better players willing to waive to non contending teams but the reality is they don’t want to waive to go to these places. Last year there were quite a few posts of cpers hoping hanifin and tanev would get traded to teams that were just outside the playoffs . It’s not realistic . Good Players that are getting close to ufa and potentially on trade block want their chance at a cup now. They don’t want to go to a team that might have a chance in 3-5 years if their prospect pool pans out.

There is too much talent on that team to be holding a wildcard spot with a negative goal differential two months into the season. Something is going to have to give and a 2nd round pick is a small price to pay to help save a season as I imagine they will try to improve the roster before firing Bednar. That said Vladar has no track record as a starter and it's a stretch to assume he could come in and make a big difference for them.

Good point. The problem for a team like Colorado is that there really isn’t much available right now that’s proven to be better than Vladar. You could argue Gibson but the contract is tough to fit and a riskier commitment.
It’s also a risk to wait for something better to be on the trade market. They are throwing away points because of poor goaltending while their superstars are lighting up the league. It seems a waste to make perfect the enemy of good by waiting for another goaltender to become available.

I think Mackenzie Blackwood is also in the mix here. Due to injury and playing on the Sharks has a lot of people sleeping on him but I think he’s held in very high regard in the goaltending community.

Could very well see Vladar on Carolina. For some reason that just looks like a good match. Would be a fun potential first round series against a wildcard bruins team too

Saw that Seravalli mentioned 5-6 teams potentiallly in on Jiricek - mentioned Minnesota, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and, to some degree, Buffalo and San Jose.

Licking my chops for the goalie market working in Calgary's favor this season. And I say that after we just traded Markstrom six months ago. Excellent franchise management on the Flames behalf.
Make 'em pay, Conroy!

Throw in Barrie as a replacement. Seems completely even for both teams
