I think Hall and his lottery luck are both washed at this point of his career.

I wonder about Colton Dach. Injury prone but big C that we lack in the system.
Davidson wasn’t GM when he was picked, but was part of the management team so may have some attachment to him.
Tend to agree this could be Chicago trying to do a veteran right (hall and or athanasiou). But if we can profit by getting a prospect as part of the deal, why not? Chicago also weak at G position organizationally, so maybe sending one of our b/c level goalies their way will help sweeten any return.

I don’t know about this.
Seems to me that if the Flames acquired Hall and extended him, that would be an indictment against their young left shooting wingers, of which they have more than anything else it seems.
With Huberdeau, Sharangovich, Coleman, Coronato, Posposil already taking up 6 of 12 spots mid-long term, that doesn’t leave many spots especially if you include fourth line spots and low ice time positions (ie do the Flames have interest in bringing Lomberg back at the end of next season).
Unless Coleman is going to be moved, I’d prefer to see them leave a spot to give the Stromgrin’s, Pelletier’s and Honzek’s a look. Moving forward they’ll need space for the Gridin’s, Basha’s, Battaglia’s and whoever else they might have after this draft and next. I think in a couple years, they’ll want three top 6 spots just for young wingers. Maybe more if you expand it to top 9 spots.
Maybe the way I see it is getting too far ahead of myself. If Hall comes here and signs, say, a two year deal, perhaps it’s worth while but I’d be a bit leary of blocking the path for some young players. Of the guys I listed above, Coleman and Posposil are the only two I think may be moved in the next 2-3 years. The Flames almost certainly will still have Huberdeau, Sharangovich, Coronato.
….maybe there is room for Hall for the next 2 years or so but as long as the Flames have some sort of off ramp to open spots for young players.

If you sign Hall that is another Huberdeau situation. A winger that needs to play on a scoring line and be given premium ice time and PP time. I’d rather keep those spots for young players and veterans should be guys that can play up and down the lineup.
As TOfan says, maybe there is room for the next year or two. But it wasn’t long ago we thought Honzek was a top line winger. Now maybe that was just a pre season phenomenon, but he or other guys could be ready earlier than expected. I’d prefer erring on the side of youth.

No thanks to a Kuzmenko for hall trade. When flames trade Kuzmenko I hope it’s so a farm hand gets a chance for his spot. Don’t need it filled with an aging veteran.

Chicago has 2 prospects as good or better than the Calgary b/c level goalie prospects. Commesso and Gajan.
Not sure why Chicago would send a 1st round pick centre to get rid of Hall? They are in a massive rebuild, I doubt they are trading one of their recent picks. Maybe if they are tired of Reichel, he seems to have been around forever?

I can't see why either team would have any interest in the other team's player. Hall cannot make it with Bedard, I doubt he succeeds in Calgary's defensive system.

Conroy isnt trading for a forward unless its a youngish C.
Certainly not a 33yo LW.

That’s not happening.
Doubt, very much, the flames have the type of forward that would land them a ‘youngish’ C unless that youngish C profiles as a 4th line/tweener.

I don't think he was implying it would be a forward traded for a young C. The obvious trade candidate to land a good young C would be Andersson.

Yes, Conroy appears to be very focused on a goal with each of his trades. The oldest player he got was Sharangovich. And we have no room on wing or defence as it is (or goal).

Why does it have to be a F?
Flames have assets now.

I don't want to play the part as "anti Kirkland". I love good stories like his.
But his points aren't the full story. He has an xGF60 of 1.98, third worst on the team. His actual GF60 is 3.62, best on the team by a half goal.
It's all going his way, but it's a heater.

Any return for kuzmenko will be underwhelming. Contenders are unlikely to trade for him as he has defensive holes in his game that will be exposed in playoff hockey. So if he’s traded, he’s probably going to a non contender like Chicago who are looking for a goal scorer to make hockey interesting during a rebuild. And if it’s Hall coming back, I don’t see any issue if hall takes Kirkland's spot in the lineup. Won’t be taking ice time away from our young guys.

Trevor Zegras is someone I think Conroy could target. Young center with high offensive abilities an upside. I remember hearing the relation between the player and his team wasnt great either

The relationship is at an all-time low, I think. What would the cost be?
