I love my superautomatic. I went for the Phillips Lattego 3200 on sale on amazon for 600$ on prime days. The coffee is just so damn good and its nice to switch it up at home with just the press of a button.

Ya, I've been indoctrinated by youtube about the benefits of a superautomatic. I'll get one of each on BF. Breville oracle for home, and the super tight aesthetic and minimalist moccamonster next to my computer at work. Realizing what I spend between P&S and purple perk makes this a no-brainer purchase.
Kitchenwares are usually included on the aeroplan cc bonus on amazon during BF. Looking like a couple coffee machines comes with a free flight to YYZ basically.

I'm also a fan of superautomatics, but the moccamaster isn't one. Looks like you have to grind your own coffee to use it?

Bad phrasing on my part. Moccamaster is definitely not superautomatic, but I now see how I kinda said it was.

Moccamaster for work? Jealous! I am already labeled the fancy pants at work when I brought an Aeropress and Nanopresso to work. I have no clue what people would say if I brought something like a Moccamaster to work.

I have a moccamaster and I cannot tell a difference between the 25 dollar, replace once a year coffee maker.
My wife uses a poor man drip for her one off cups of coffee just the filter contraption and the cup under. Is the aeropress as easy and better? I showed it to her and thinks its ridiculous. (annoyingly old school). Easy to clean up?

Like a V60? I prefer a V60 to Aeropress, but Aeropress is easier to brew.

My wife used the aeropress and loved the quality more than drop coffee at home. But then we were gifted a v60 pour over (perhaps similar to what your wife uses) and she has preferred that ever since.
Both are paper filtered, since aeropress is more immersive brewing vs drip brewing for the pour over. The expected coffee flavors is more typically concentrated in the aeropress. The nuanced other flavors are typically more noticeable when using a pour over when the typical coffee flavors aren't concentrated.
Clean up wise, for single cup, both easier than many other methods like French press and drip coffee. Aeropress has less things to put away, but takes a few seconds longer to rinse than pour over. Pour over has more stuff to put away and potentially more stuff that takes up more space, but takes a little less time to rinse.
Different results though. Like comparing scotch, bourbon and rum. It can either be a super noticeable diffence for you, or barely noticeable. Just go with what you like.

Of all the coffee brewing equipment I have, this cheap Melitta pour over cone, by far, provides the best cost-effort-results trade-off of any brewing equipment: https://www.amazon.ca/Melitta-640820...TMG/ref=sr_1_5
You just dump the used filter in the compost bin and give it a quick rinse.
I used the Aeropress about 5 times before relegating it to a Rubbermaid storage bin.

For cleaning, I thought the Aeropress was pretty easy. Push the filter and coffee puck out into the compost with the plunger and then rinse it a bit. It’s almost self-cleaning.

Aeropress - remove cap, plunger into compost, rinse cap and body, put into drying rack
Pour over - Pour into compost, rinse pour over, put into drying rack
Both are easier than French press - remove plunger, pour/scoop/spill into compost, rinse far too much coffee grinds down drain, re-rinse, place in drying rack, wash sink... etc. drink coffee, choke on grinds that made it past the mesh filter...
I mean, a bunch of these different methods start to flex their benefits in different scenarios. If I'm traveling or going to a friend's place, I like the Nanopresso and Aeropress more than pour over and coffee machine. At home, a machine or pour over occasionally is more benefit/convenient than Nanopresso/Aeropress. At work, a Nanopresso/Aeropress is more easily self contained in a desk drawer without concern (if the coffee at work is really that bad).

I would love to see how this stands up to a blind taste test
I can not claim to have such a refined palette, and am intrigued
I fully support agreeing with your significant other, by all means

Oh believe me. She can tell. She doesn't know what she's tasting, but she knows if they're different and if she likes them or not. She's no sommelier, but she's really accurate for things she likes/doesn't like. The average person isn't remotely close to the accuracy she has for stuff like this. Even me. She frequently identifies some of my food as being "different... but still tastes good" if I've made an ingredient swap, forgot/added ingredient or Maillard reaction is slightly different. It's kinda crazy.
She would never be able to figure out which was which and she'd probably say she likes both. But I'd have a heck of a time convincing her incorrectly if two unlabeled cups in front of her had identical coffee or different coffee.

I said f it, and bought the 5500 today. I have only experimented with a few cups so far, but the Americano was good. I just wish it made a little bit more. Even the biggest cup size was fairly small. Although maybe I could try and travel mug size and see how that goes. So far so good on taste at least.

I have the Cuisinart DPO-350 automatic pour-over and it's great. For espressos/cappucinos I use the Breville Cafe Roma. Pretty basic set-up, but fits my needs.

There's a way to change the amount of the biggest setting. Someone on Reddit I think made a whole page on how to adjust the "behind the scenes" settings - like I adjusted my biggest size coffee from 5oz to 7oz.
Edit: looks like the 5500 is different but this might help

Oh, it's just a settings tweak that allows more volume per dispensing? I somehow thought it might be a physical hack.
I remember seeing a bunch of cups overflow at a dealership and seeing a tech they called in adjust those settings to avoid the volume > the cup size they selected. I just kinda assumed that was only a feature on machines that are much more expensive.
The Phillips models aren't cheap, so I guess it makes sense you should be allowed to tweak these settings. Cool, cool.
